Advantages: Everything about the food and service

Disadvantages: Parking nearby may not be easy

It's good to see the Yang Sing back in Princess Street, following the disastrous fire over a year ago. The premises have been refurbished, and it's now more spacious. They are going from strength to strength - the Yeung brothers featured in a TV series recently. They have also started to sell takeaway meals, which you get packed a handy box. I haven't had one as yet, but it's a great idea, and will make a change from the butties.

The Little Yang Sing has always been my favourite Chinese restaurant. Their dim sum, many of which get cooked at your table, are superb - I'll remember the crabmeat parcels forever.
I'm afraid I've never been that adventurous, usually stuck to the old favourites (prawns and cashewnuts and their delicious, subtle, fried rice is a typical choice).
It's not very cheap: for this kind of main course (with dim sum and Chinese tea) a bill for two might be around £30.00 - I have always felt it is worth it.

They will cook you a banquet meal to your requirements - which means you get course after course arriving at your table. Once I was in a party and ordered this, and it included ostrich, in a rich sauce, which I'm told was the best dish of the meal. I would still recommend the restaurant to non meat eaters, though.
Expect this to come to around £25 per person or more.

The staff are extremely polite and attentive, and children are welcome. It can get very busy, so my advice is to book in advance.

Well worth a visit - and ideal for a special occasion.

The Times reviewed this restaurant this week and said it was one of the best restaurants (of any kind, not only Chinese) in the entire country!!! Not been yet , but am definitely going soon!
