Zizzi's (Maidstone)

Having noticed there are several restaurants in my local town listed on this site, many of which I have eaten at, I decided to write a few reviews of them. One such restaurant is Zizzis. When it first opened in the town a few years ago, I had never heard of the Zizzi chain and in fact didn't know that it was a chain restaurant until I looked into it a little more. All this eating out I have been doing over the summer isn’t doing me any favours at all, but I figure I might as well dooyoo one, by writing another restaurant review and adding to the catalogue. On Saturday Afternoon, I went to Maidstone with my boyfriend and as we were famished we set about finding somewhere to east immediately. The menu is just your average Italian. Pasta , pizza, a few chicken dishes, and some steak dishes. However because it is part of the chain you can guarantee some consistency and if you don't know an area it's a safe place to go Prices also average £8-£10 for pasta and pizza £12-£15 for a meat dish. The mozzarella salad for starters is nice but nothing you can't get in any other Italians. A bottle of house white/ red comes in at £12-13. I am sad to say very dissapointing food. Attractive and welcoming interiorwith attentive staff & interesting wines. The starters we ordered varied in both quantity & quality. Calamari very good, with mayo & lemon. Bruchetta very dissapointing the topping looked & tasted like it came out of a tub of supermarket sandwich filler. I must say that the value is really fantastic. I really enjoyed my meal from start to finish. You get a lot for what you pay and the decor of the restaurant is very nice. The waitstaff seems wll equiped to deal with any cicumstance.
