Advantages: luxury and good food.

Disadvantages: The "serveurs" don't smile

I discovered this restaurant last sunday, not far from the ugly "halles" and their gardens above. It was really a good surprise! The menu are not expensive at all (100F at least, 140F for a complete menu. More if you want...) by regarding the context.

I think this restaurant has all that you want from a french restaurant (luxe, really incredible food). It has been created in 1740 and haved been called "Au chien qui fume" because one of the chef has a smoking dog during the 19th century. The first floor is full of paintings of humanized dogs (smoking dog, obviously) in different situations (some erotic ones). The service is like in luxury restaurant, my friends and me told ourselves. Even the toilets are clean!

For 100F, i ate as an "entrée" (first) a "feuilletée de veau" and as a "plat de résistance" (second) un "canard maison" (duck). You should do that too. The desserts are good, too.
You have all the french great food here (beginning by Burgondy snails, but maybe you don't like that).
If you don't take a menu, on the contrary, be sure that the dinner will be expensive, so take care. Apéritifs and wines are really too expensive. So take a menu and drink water!

I 'll come back to this place, be sure.

How to go to this restaurant? It's quite easy. You are on Pont-neuf bridge (west of île de la cité, the island where Notre Dame is), take the direction of Seine right bank (north), along Pont-neuf Street, go across Rivoli street and go almost until Halles gardens (jardin des halles), you'll find it, after a ten minutes walk.

Please do some more opinions on restaurants in Paris I always find it difficult to find somewhere reasonably priced and good. Perhaps you could do your top ten favourites.
