Advantages: Loads to do and really cheap. Always sunny.

Disadvantages: Can get loud with the nightlife and streets dusty

Kuta is the most popular tourist destination in Bali. The beaches here are absolutely beautiful.... as long as you don't look too close (there is a lot of rubbish).
When I first arrived there I had no idea where I was going to stay which was kind of scary but a couple of us hunted around for cheap accommodation and eventually found a place called Uncle Sams on poppies lane.
The budget accommodation in Kuta is cheap and basic but as I didn’t intend in staying there very long it was fine.
It cost about £2 a night and that included a fresh fruit salad breakfast and a cup of Bali tea or coffee – the tea and coffee I do not recommend.

I found it quite surreal walking along the beach in Kuta watching the surfers with the sun going down, pretty cool though.
There are lots of side stalls on the streets in Kuta and some of them are hard work, you have to walk along the streets and make no eye contact what so ever otherwise they tend to harass you – on the other hand if you want something these are the places to go, things are cheaper and you can haggle. If you want something cheaper and they won’t lower the price just start to walk away – always worked for me.
The other shops in Kuta are more expensive and you can’t haggle but you don’t get any hassle.

There are plenty of places to eat in Kuta, the warrangs are exceptionally cheap. In one place called warrang you could buy a 12” pizza or a steak and chip meal for the equivalent of £2.

The streets are also lined with many bars and clubs and at night time Kuta comes alive with a party atmosphere that continues into the early hours.

Apart from the shopping and partying in Kuta what is there to do I wondered? Well of course there was surfing which was great fun, many surf schools that you can have lessons with or even just hire equipment and go out on your own….. Surfing in hot water is great.
There is also a water park called Water-Bom. This I would truly recommend. You can buy a ticket and get half price entry for a second visit on your holiday if you’re staying for a while.
The park has about five slides and pools, lots of outdoor activities to partake in and lovely sunbathing areas.
When we went to the park it was an independence day and there was lots of singing and dancing and my husband got roped into a tug of war competition.

The Indonesians are very friendly people and will do anything to encourage tourists to return to their beautiful country since the Bali Bombings.

If you fancy a relaxing holiday then there are hotels to stay in that have everything in the complex you need, or if you fancy some traveling I recommend Bali as the place to go.
Kuta is a great starting place, the liveliest place and from there you can move onto many other beautiful towns with temples and festivals and travel around the island.

Flights to Bali can vary but I got mine with Garuda airways and it only cost me £639 and I stayed out there for four weeks and had the time of my life. I didn’t spend a lot of money when there as food and accommodation are so cheap – it was like being a queen.
An adventure I will be taking again and would recommend to others also.

Summary: An experience not to be missed - kuta the start of your Bali holiday

I think your readers would like to know where on the island the place is to be found.
