If seafood and fish are your thing then a trip to Cal Pep on Placa de les Olles is an absolute must.

A tiny place, you will be invited to sit at the 'bar' behind which several chefs will be cooking your food as you eat.

The ultimate in fast food, you sit down and, if like myself and my other half at the time, you speak little or no Spanish, they will happily tell you what you are going to eat.

They will also tell you you are going to drink white wine and boy will you drink it fast! I don't think I have ever had my glass filled up as frequently.

They bring each fish dish separately like a series of courses, but don't worry if you are full and it looks like there are still things on your order - just tell them you have had enough and they'll happily scratch off any remaining dishes.

As a general rule of thumb if you want to get in easily turn up early at about 7pm as most Spaniards don't eat until much later.
