For the best Chinese restaurant in town go to the edge of North Beach - Broadway and Columbus, and enter the House of Nan King. However, get there before 8pm, as the queing starts about then. The service is rude, the decor not overly appealling - and do not use the bathroom before eating. However, the food is superb and extrememly cheap. The eating area is divided into two parts, and in one of them is the kitchen so you can literally see your food being made.
