A big brasserie, off the busy Grands Boulevards cinema district, with good, quick, cheap food, drinkable wines, the best in haughty French service and an atmosphere that most restaurateurs would sell their chef for. Yes, the ambiance is what makes Le Chartier unique. It buzzes. It clinks. It clatters. The French probably outnumber the tourists, and some of my friends will hate me for giving the secret away, so any passing visitors to Paris out there, you'll have to promise not to all invade the place at once. Don't expect posh. If you come alone or in a pair you might be elbow to elbow with strangers. That's how popular this place is... ...
