It was late in the afternoon when, after day of sightseeing, we caught the subway down to lower Manhattan. Compared to Manhattan in general it was clear that there was something different about downtown. For a start, gone where the 90o angled roads, up-down, left to right, numbered in streets and Avenues so that it is almost impossible ever to get lost. This was more like my native Belfast, streets shooting of in whatever direction they feel like. The comparison ends there though.
