In winter time which is usually the time we visit there is an open log fire always crackling and hissing away. The other room which is available is a room full of water features - tanks with fishes and terrrapins swimming happily away. The tables and chairs are of the heavy, oak variety that most Portuguese restaurants have and always have white linen tablecloths draped on the tables. O Cangalho is a restaurant that is a little out of the way if you are staying in Lagos in the Algarve but worth a drive out. The owners of this particular restaurant always had a quirky passion for owning strange creatures like llamas. Obviouisly, they were kept in the field next to the restaurant and children loved to visit just to stroke the llamas and play with terrapins and lizards that often were seen swimming around in water pools outside the restaurant . They have now opened a zoo. O Cangalho is situated on the outskirts of a village named Barao de Sao Joao.
