Advantages: So much choice

Disadvantages: Its soooooo far away

Ok, so my first best place to eat in Toronto isnt a restaurant. Cheating i know, but if im reviewing the food there, i cant leave this out.

HOT DOG STANDS!! I was so poor at times when i lived in Canada that i really had to budget for days out. Hot dog stands downtown are on near enough every street. Prices for a basic hot dog are between $1-$3. Theyre nothing like ive ever tasted here and i dont think ill ever find one thats as good. Every stand sells drinks too and several kinds of relish that are all free. Why wait ages in restaurants downtown when this is such a cheap, convenient and yummy option?

Swiss Chalet - this is probably the restaurant i miss most. You can either order on line/ by phone or go into one of their many restaurants. There was one just down the street from where i lived so i went there often. Swiss Chalet is a chain that mainly deals in rotisserie chicken and ribs at fantastic prices. Soft drinks in the restaurants are free refils which is great because chicken and ribs normally make me super thirsty. There's a pretty big menu available with starters, mains, sides puddings and also a kids menu. The menu also shows healthy options for those of you watching your figures. For $25.99 (£16ish) you can get a family pack which includes a whole chicken, 4 bread rolls, dipping sauce and a choice of 4 sides. Thats a lot of food for £16. The dipping sauce is to die for. Slighty spicy it goes with chicken really well. You can also buy this in packets from supermarkets there. I have to admit i brought some of this back because i couldnt live without it. Shame ive run out now though.

The Keg - The best steak i have ever had! This place isnt cheap by all means but it is well worth the prices. The restaurants are pretty posh but they never turn away customers. Healthy choices and a childrens menu are also available as the main menus. The website doesnt show any prices, but our meal for 2 was about $140. Sounds a lot for steaks i know. We had 2 steaks meals, a shared starter and 2 drinks each. Luckily i wasnt paying! This restaurant is great for special occasions but definitly not a once a week thing.

La Sem - Italian restaurant and Patisserie with quite cheap prices. This place is a little out of the way, maybe an hours drive from downtown, its situated in Mississauga. I had the best carbonara ive ever tasted here and it was only about $12. La sem has a great menu with lots to offer. If you go for lunch, you'll find it quiet and peaceful. Perfect to enjoy a lovely meal! Half of the restaurant is a restaurant, and the other half is a bakery/ ice cream parlour. I have never tasted ice cream that actually tastes like the fruit its made with. Any fruit ice cream here tastes exactly how it should and also has chunks of fruit blended in. This place is definitly worth the drive out of town.

Summary: Id fly back just to eat there again
