“ A world-wide pizza franchise. „

Ok, so let me start by saying the only knowledge I have if papa johns is the one in Aberdeen. I've never ordered from anywhere else.
The offers - there's always an offer on for the pizzas, generally speaking I get a text through to my phone nearly every weekend with a new offer! So this means that although the prices do seem more than other pizza shops (a medium pizza costs between £12 and £18) the price is brought to a more reasonable sum by the offer. If you a not registered with papa johns a quick google search will give you all the current offer codes... It'd worth registering on their website though as everytime you order from the site you can store up points to earn more pizzas!
The order process - it's a very easy site to navigate with pages being split up into categories such as pizza, dessert and sides so it's fairly straight forward to find what you are after. Sometimes the website plays up though and is very slow and occasionally it crashes completely and we have been unable to put our order through.
The delivery - we've only had it occasionally where it was delivered fast! Generally speaking you'll be waiting for about an hour for your pizza but we don't mind that. If you're starving and want food in a rush papa johns isn't for you!
The pizza - ALWAYS very tasty, I like to go for the cheese stuffed crust as well. I've never had a bad tasting pizza from here, and the pizza sauces that accompany the pizza are very nice as well - I recommend the buttery garlic sauce or the tomato and herb!
This review relates to the Papa Johns store in Manchester City Centre.
I've ordered from this store twice now. After one slightly annoying experience last year I decided to give them another chance this weekend. I won't be bothering a third time! The problems haven't been huge, but the whole point of ordering food for delivery is that its simple and convenient, when it causes you inconvenience its not really worth paying for!
The first time, the pizza was fine but the ice cream I'd ordered was the wrong flavour, and was a flavour I don't like at all. A call to the store led to the promise that a driver would being out a replacement in the right flavour, but after two hours and another phone call that went unanswered, I gave up and went to bed. My e-mailed complaint never got a reply either but I did eventually get rid of the horrible chocolate ice cream!
Despite the annoyance, the pizza was tasty, so I decided to give them another go. This weekend I ordered Pizzas with drink and dipping sauces. The pizza arrived, no drinks or sauces. The delivery driver rang the store and got permission to refund me with the change he was carrying, as I didn't want the same issue as last time!
So..yes, the pizza is nicer than Dominos. It tastes more like a real Italian pizza, lovely thin crusts, the tomato sauce is flavoursome, there's a great choice of toppings. However, I just can't give them a positive review as the service just isn't there, and I won't be ordering from them again.
I found Papa John's pizzas to be of much better quality of other takeaway pizza stores, such as Pizza Hut and Dominoes, but with the same service . There is a good choice of toppings and the meat pizzas are especially good. There is a good selection of sides but the dips are nothing special and the garlic dip I found to be positively disgusting! I have tried the All the Meats pizza and Chicken BBQ on two separate occasions and these were hot when they arrived, appeared to be freshly baked and were really tasty. I also tried the jalapeno bites, chicken wings and garlic bread, which I really enjoyed.
My only problem that I had encountered with Papa John's was when trying to order from the Just Eat website.
I tried making an order for a selection of sides, which was worth just over twenty pounds, but the order was refused several times. It was only until I phoned the store that I was informed that all orders have to include a pizza for delivery. I found this to be strange, as the menu items I had ordered actually mounted to what I would have ordered if I were getting a pizza for myself.
Why I chose Papa John's

PaPa Johns in the third largest pizza chain in the world with 3200 stores across 29 countries. They currently have over 100 stores in the UK with many more on the way. I knew they had just opened a new store in my local town and I really fancied a pizza, so I decided to take a look at their website to see what took my fancy. Living just outside a rather large town there are lots of pizza and take away restaurants, how-ever I always find that some a better quality than others. I had heard of Papa Johns before and knew their products were of good quality. The person whom I was ordering pizza with wanted Stuffed crust and a lot of the restaurants which are local to me don't do stuffed crust pizzas, which is why we decided to order from Papa Johns instead.

As soon as the website loads it's bright and colourful with the main being a dark green colour. On the main page you can see any special offers which may be available. You can also find a store local to you, look at other offers and read their success story and how the company started. On the right hand side there is a box saying 'Why Not Order Online' here you simply type in your postcode to find your nearest store. You can also choose to search by county by using the drop down menu underneath where you type the postcode, or you can choose an area on the map shown. The website is attractive and very colourful with different offers changing on the main page. I typed in my postcode into the box and it came up with the details of the closest store to me. With this information it states whether the store is open and whether they deliver and payment types that they take. You can choose to view the menu or view the offers. It also lists other nearby stores as well, should the one you want to order from is closed. I clicked on the view menu button and it took me to another page where I had the choice to register my details or not. On this page is a large list of different pizzas that you can choose from. You can also add sides, desserts and drinks to your order as well. If you know what pizza you want you can select it from the drop down menu. On the left hand side is a list of current offers and a list of pizza sizes and how many slices each pizza contains. You can also view allergy information, nutritional information per slice and nutritional information per 100g. It states on the page that they aim to deliver the pizza within 30mins. All collection orders are ready within 15mins. On the right hand side of the screen is your basket where you can see any items you have put into your basket and how much they are.

The person whom I was sharing the Pizza with wanted a stuff crust pizza and we both wanted something like a 'Meat Feast' pizza, so we looked at the selection available. You can choose to have the pizza with an original crust, thin crust or stuffed crust. There are a total of 15 different Pizza's to choose from. Each pizza has a name and shows you a picture and lists the ingredients which are on the pizza. We decided to get the 'All the Meats' pizza which included Ham, pepperoni, sausage, bacon and spicy beef. The stuffed crust is only available in a large pizza which has 10 slices so we went for this one which cost us £19.49. Simply click on Add+ and this item will be added to your basket. You can choose to customise your chosen pizza simply by adding other ingredients (this will cost more). We also added a large bottle of coke to the order as well. Once we had everything in our basket we entered a special code which gave us 33% off, as it was our first order with them. We got this code from a leaflet which was posted through our door. We clicked on checkout and you had chance to double check your order before it was submitted to the store. You can then choose to pay online or pay cash when they deliver the pizza. We decided we were going to pay on delivery by cash. You need to fill out some information such as your address and a contact number, also an e-mail address so they can send a confirmation to your e-mail with your order details. As I was very local to the area and I had spent over £10 I didn't have to pay for any delivery charge. I don't think you qualify for delivery unless you spend over £10.
I received an e-mail with a confirmation of my order and another e-mail with a password on if I wanted to use the website to order from again. It stated on the order confirmation e-mail that this wasn't a confirmation that the order had been received by the restaurant. I waited for another 10/15mins until I received another e-mail stating the restaurant had received the order and that it would be processed shortly. From this I timed how long it would take for the pizza to get to me as I was interested to see if they really did deliver within 30mins of an order being placed.

After receiving the last e-mail from the restaurant the pizza was delivered within 30mins, which I was very impressed by. The delivery driver handed me a Papa John's bag with the bottle of cold coke inside and then took the pizza out from the special keep hot bag and handed it to me. He told me the total amount to pay and I paid him cash and he handed me my change. The driver was very polite and smartly dresses in black trousers and a t-shirt. The coke was cold which wasn't expected as we thought this would be warm as when I have ordered pizza from other restaurants before they take the drinks from the shelf rather than the fridge. I opened the pizza box ready to tuck in. The pizza was correct and looked delicious. It had shifted about in the box a little during transit but it smelt and looked delicious. There was a pit of Garlic sauce with the pizza as well. I took the first slice and bit a piece off the end. The pizza tasted delicious and was still very warm but not too hot. There was plenty of topping all over the pizza and the stuffed crust was really cheesy and delicious. Normally when I have stuffed crust pizza's the cheese tastes very weak, how-ever in this pizza it was a little stronger and there was plenty of it in the crust. The crust wasn't too crispy which was nice as I like to dip this into some sauce and then eat them at the end. The pizza was very filling but was delicious and tasted great with all the different mixed meats on top.

I will definitely be ordering from this restaurant again. The food was delivered within the time stated on their website and the food was delicious and tasted great. In terms of value I think it's probably about the same as other pizza restaurants in the area, how-ever I don't mind paying a little more for good quality which this pizza was. As I had to fill in my details on the website such as e-mail address it means I will now get sent different offers, which is great as it's always good to save a bit of money. The delivery driver was smart looking and also very polite. I don't think I can actually fault this restaurant on anything as everything was just perfect. If you happen to have one of these in your areas I would highly recommend them to other to try as their pizzas taste much better than other restaurants such as Perfect Pizza. I will be using this restaurant again in the future and I think they deserve 5 shiny stars.
(review also on ciao)
I wanted to do a review of this pizza company as I think it is underrated as a pizza provider and as it has recently gone straight to the top of my favourite takeaways I would like to spread the joy that is Papa John's.
Papa John's have branches throughout the country, offering takeaway pizzas, pastas and desserts which can either be collected or delivered to your door. They also operate in other countries but I'm not sure which ones and as I live in the UK this doesn't concern me too much. There are more details on their website at www.papajohns.co.uk if you are interested.
If we are considering takeaway pizza for tea, this is the only company we use these days. Their pizzas are the best I have tasted and although they're not the cheapest, once you've registered an online account with them, you will be informed of special offers which they usually have over the weekend. We usually get two large pizzas when they are on offer (they're often two for the price of one) and this costs about £14 for two large pizzas. I wouldn't get two when they're not on offer as I couldn't justify spending £28 on pizza! But the large ones are quite big and you could get away with one and some sides to feed two people.
You can go to the store to order your food, or if you want it delivered, you can either phone them or create an online account. The online account is very easy to set up, and it remembers your details so all you need to do is log in, choose your food, and enter your card details. This is especially handy if you fancy getting a pizza delivered but haven't got any cash to pay for it. You can just use your card instead. It doesn't store your card details though so you know it's secure each time you order.
You also get 33% off your first online order (there is a code to use on their website), and sometimes they send out offers exclusive to account holders, but there are always offers available on the website anyway so it's worth checking before just ringing and ordering your favourite. Once you've ordered online, you'll get updates to your mobile so you know roughly when to expect your pizza. If they're really busy it can take a while but usually it's there within 30 minutes.
Offers which seem to be ongoing are "Two for Tuesday" which is two pizzas (any size) for the price of one on a Tuesday. They also do things like 25% when you spend £25 or over, which is useful if there's a large group of you ordering. They sometimes offer free desserts such as Ben & Jerrys ice cream if you order a pizza of a certain size.
The food that is available from Papa John's is reasonably varied and there are many options of pizzas and chicken dishes such as chicken wings, chicken dippers and hot buffalo wings. They also offer lots of side dishes such as wedges, garlic bread and cheesy jalepeno bites. You can create your own pizza, or choose one from the menu. The flavours vary but examples of the pizzas they offer are double spicy beef, BBQ chicken, Papa's Pepperoni Plus, and the classics such as Hawaiian and cheese and tomato. You can choose your base (original crust, authentic thin crust or stuffed crust), and you can add extra toppings if you wish. If you can't decide which pizza to have or you're with someone who doesn't like the same things as you, you can have half and half with different flavours.
The dessert menu consists of Ben and Jerry's ice cream, New York based cheesecake, Banoffee pie and Chockarocka pie. I've only ever had the Ben and Jerry's because it was part of an offer once, as I find after working your way through a large pizza there usually isn't much room for anything else!
Delivery is free and you don't have to spend a certain amount to get free delivery. We've always found the pizzas are hot when we get them, as I hate it when the food is cold by the time you receive it. One thing I would advise is that once you've created your order, you keep the confirmation handy in case there's any dispute when they deliver your pizza. We've only had this happen once, when they missed off a bottle of coke we'd ordered, and we'd closed the computer down so couldn't prove we'd ordered it. As it was only a bottle of coke we let it go, but if they'd been questioning a pizza or side order it would have been handy to have the computer screen with the confirmation open.
Taste wise, I have to say that this is the nicest pizza I've tasted. The pizza is not at all greasy, so you don't feel as guilty eating this as you might do with some other takeaway pizzas. This could be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it! The pizzas are very flavoursome and are very satisfying. We've tried a few different flavours but our favourites are Papa John's Special and Meat Feast. These contain similar ingredients (basically they're meat based), but have slightly different unique tastes to them. You get plenty of topping on the pizza, and I have yet to taste one I don't like. I've not tried any sides as we're all about the pizza and we'll usually get a couple of different flavours to share because otherwise eight to ten slices of the same flavour pizza could get a little boring towards the end!
Overall, this is a great option for a lazy night takeaway, and I don't think I'll ever get bored of trying out the different flavours. In fact I'm in the mood for one tonight after doing this review!
I went to Papa Johns to get a takeaway. I was initially impressed by the options on the menu, and the fact that every Tuesday, a special buy one get one free deal is available.
I ordered a Double Pepperoni Pizza and The Mexican. These took about 15 minutes to make, and I liked the fact that they were prepared fresh. I also ordered some dipping sauces along with the pizzas, at an extra cost. However, when I got home, I realised that they didn't include the dipping sauces. I know I should have checked for these but sometimes its nice not to have to do their job for them!
Overall the pizzas were average. I've read alot of really positive reviews, but I can honestly say I've had better pizzas elsewhere. The "double" pepperoni had a resonable amount of pepperoni on it. I'm not sure why they say its "double", surely you'd expect double the amount. The taste was average, if not a little bland. The mexican was definitely better with a generous amount of beef meatballs, and alot of topping on it. The taste was definitely better than the pepperoni. Papa Johns advertises its dough as fresh, and it definitely is prepared freshly, but I found that the pizza was a little overcooked, and the base was far too crispy (almost burnt) to enjoy the "fresh" experience.
Overall, for what I paid, I will give Papa Johns another chance. However, it is off-putting when these places miss items out of your order, for which you have paid for. I'd recommend being careful what pizzas you choose here, because from my experience, some have much better toppings than others. Oh, always check they've given you the correct order aswell!
My mum was out for the weekend and she left us money for food so we decided to get some pizza. After looking around on the internet, we settled for Papa John's as it was very easy to navigate the site.
After choosing a location (US/UK etc); I did not know they were so vast, you can choose a selection of pizzas ranging from Hawaiian to Meat Feast. Seeing the half price pizza offer for first time orders, we went for the medium sized half half pizza which you can customise the top and the crust (we went for the BBQ Chicken and the Papa John special) and a side of chicken dippers and potato wedges which came to a total of just over £10.
Ordering is extremely easy; just follow the instructions to fill in a page of details which include your email address and phone number (with your address of course) and upon completing it, it will give you live updates as to how your pizza is coming along (preparing, delivering etc) which is pretty cool!!!
The pizza took less than half an hour to arrive and it was nice and hot. The pizza looked great and was really wholesome. I really liked both the BBQ chicken (a bit too much sauce) and the Papa John's special which had a unique sweet taste. Both were quite meaty and next time I might try the garden feast one.
The side was a bit messy with the wedges sprawled about and pieces of greaseproof paper everywhere... Nonetheless, the chicken dippers were very yummy and tasted "not from frozen". We had a great time eating it whilst watching TV and filled us both up perfectly. The size was just right and we were both very happy with it.
Overall I would really recommend this service (especially if it is your first time) as you get delicious pizza for not a lot of money which you will definitely be pleased with. I was extremely happy with it and found that the pizza wasn't as greasy as the Pizza hut ones, with the toppings quite unique and tasty. It is definitely going to be on the top of my list next time I order pizza.
Thanks to the economical recession my local estate agent closed door 2 years ago and left an empty shop for long time. Last March finally a new business took over it and gladly it's one branch of Papa John's.
What is Papa John's:
Papa John's is the third largest take-out and delivery pizza restaurant chain in the United States, behind Pizza Hut and Domino's Pizza. It was founded in 1984 by John Schnatter, who was a Pizza maker for short period during his young ages and is based in Louisville, Kentucky. With the slogan "Better Ingredients. Better Pizza" it has spread 3300 establishments in over 30 countries including the USA and the UK.
How to order it:
Similar to many pizza chains you can order online via their website, over the phone from their menu or go to the shop to personally order. Their website is easily navigated. You just type in your post code then you will find the nearest one. From the online menu you can simply choose what products you would like. Once you pay your order via debit or credit card Papa John's will deliver to your door within 30 minutes of your order being placed. Ordering via phone is just as similar as on line. At the shop in general you need to wait for 15 minutes at most for your order given the popularity.
What's the choice?
At Papa John's you have great variety of pizzas and accompaniments to choose at reasonable prices. There are four crust choices: 6 slices, 8 slices, 10 slices and 12 slices, on which you can create your own pizza or order from Papa's classics, Papa's favourites and Papa's finest. No matter you are a vegetarian or spicy food lover you can always find one. Last but not least if you can't decide which one you are happy with or you want to try more you can order two different half pizzas in a go. You also have thin base or deep pan base to choose depending on your pizza size. There are a number of side orders that you can have with your pizza such as Garlic Pizza Bread, Cheesy Jalapeno, Bites Chicken Dippers, BBQ Chicken Wings, etc.
My first experience:
Admittedly I love pizza very much and have tried many different pizzas, such as Pizza Express, Pizza Hut, Domino's, supermarket brands and local pizzas, but it's my first time to know Papa John's when the new one was opened around my area. When I saw the shop design and the name I didn't have any interest in it to be honest. They were not remarkable to my taste, in opposite they looked very country with green and red colours in a board. However when I received their leaflet at my home and knew they are having 'buy one get one free' promotion for two months, I decided to give it a whirl. So after a couple of opening days I popped into my local Papa John's.
It was a dinner time and they were quite busy. There were two staff in front of a short counter, one was answering the phone orders, the other one was dealing with customers in person. The shop was clean, bright but not big. There were a few customers waiting for their orders. I noticed the staff dealing with customers was very friendly and talkative, who introduced customers to their products clearly and efficiently, but other staff obviously were inexperienced with their works in some ways. Consequently waiting for 40 minutes I finally took my pizza home.
The pizzas themselves by all means were very tasty. The base were soft with the natural toasted taste of whole grain. The toppings looked very fresh and eye appealing. I had one named All THE MEATS and one named PAPA's PEPPERONI PLUS in the range of Papa's favourites. The All THE MEATS one was really meaty with ham, pepperoni, sausage, bacon and spicy beef in a perfect combination; the PAPA's PEPPERONI PLUS one had very qualified pepperoni, mushrooms and onions. I was really impressed by the great authentic taste of pepperoni. It's the first time I felt pepperoni is a fine food, rather than an ordinary sausage. However the dips I chose for my pizzas were really disappointing. They had a very strange smells and tastes mixing garlic and sour cream. Luckily the pizzas were tasty enough without them.
Before I wrote a review about Domino's pizza, in which I said I'm a Domino's fan. To me Domino's makes the best pizza in the world. However after tasting Papa John's now I'm not very sure with my previous statement. If there must be a champion I would still vote Domino's, but Papa John's would be the second one, with a little distance from the best. To me they both are tasty, fresh and healthy, but Domino's base is more chewing and less stodgy.
Since the new Papa John's opened I have visited it quite regularly. Because there are so many options for me to have, and their offers are really generous. Not like Domino's , in which you can just have 'buy one get one free' offer on Tuesday, at Papa John's you can have the offer every day, at least it seems like that so far. Their pizzas are priced similarly with Domino's and my local pizza shop, but the flexible offers and wide options made it in advantage to grab my attention, especially on Thursday and Friday, which usually are my take away days. Incidentally after a few weeks running their staff are more skilled and their service is provided more efficiently.
So I would definitely recommend Papa John's to anyone who like pizza because it is a freshly made, tasty and healthy take away food.
I had never even heard of Papa John's pizza until I moved down to Surrey and we got a flyer through the door. We decided to try it instead of our usual Domino's and have been hooked since then!
An independent poll last year showed that 59% of customers preferred Papa John's pizza to Pizza Hut and I would certainly agree with that. I think the pizza's taste juicier, hotter and of better quality.
It is easy to order from Papa John's - you can order my telephone or on their straightforward website. When you order online and provide your email and telephone number, then you receive an email confirming your order, and also a text message when your order is on it's way.
They aim to deliver within 30 minutes, and usually it is less than this. I have never known them to take longer. And the food is nice and hot when it arrives.
Papa John's offers a huge range of different pizzas, both meat and vegetarian. My favourite meat pizza is Il Carnivoro which has chorizo, italian style sausage, pepperoni, bacon, ham and salami. They also offer a choice of original and authentic thin crust. The original is a nice thick crust which is perfect if you like this as I do! The other brilliant feature that they have is the Half and Half which is especially good when you and your other half can't agree on what to have, or just if you want to try as many different kinds as possible! This allows you to put two different toppings onto one pizza - half on each side.
I think that the prices are very reasonable too. An extra large is 15.99, but they always seem to have a 25% offer if you spend more than £25, as well as lots of other offers so it often works out much cheaper than you would expect.
So, if you are planning on a night in in front of the tele with a pizza, then definitely try out Papa John's!
When it comes to having a take away treat, I don't want to be let down. Being a Weight Watcher means I have to limit the amount of take aways I have, but when I do decide to have one, I want it to exceed my expectations and leave me feeling like I've thoroughly enjoyed my food - Papa John's definately ticks all the boxes!
Pizza is one of the most popular fast food items around, but finding somewhere that sells GOOD pizza is difficult. Trying new take away places is risky as you never know what you're going to get! From experience I've found pizza places selling products that are too dry, too greasy, too stodgy, lacking in toppings and barely edible. However, upon making my first order with Papa John's, I was over the moon to find the delivered pizza looked and tasted fresh, was definately flavourful and packed with toppings.
Papa John's pizza chain was established in 1984 by the 'Papa' John Schnatter. Before moving to the West Midlands I had never heard of Papa John's, despite it being the third biggest pizza take away and delivery chain behind Pizza Hut and Dominos. I was suprised to read that Papa John's has more than 3,300 stores including over 2,600 in the United States of America and more than 500 in over 30 other countries. After tasting their pizza for the first time, I could see why Papa John's empire is so large and vast!
The Papa John's trademark logo states that "Better Ingredients. Better Pizza." - and I do believe this is true. It is possible to taste the difference between a freshly made pizza with top notch ingredients, fresh dough bases and only the best quality toppings, and a reheated pizza made with a premade factory frozen base. One of the best things about Papa John's is that all their pizza bases are made fresh in store by the employees from hand kneaded dough. This may seem like a trivial aspect for a take away pizza to most, but for me it makes the pizza - having a fresh, light, fluffy pizza base makes things ten times more delicious!
As for the menu I was suprised and delighted to see the wide variety of products on offer. One of the things I dislike about take aways is that they are all pretty much the same, with similar unadventurous products to offer. Papa John's didn't dissapoint, instead it encouraged me to try new products I couldn't get anywhere else, and gave me a hard time deciding what I wanted instead of opting for the same old, same old. (Which isn't a bad thing, I may add!)
The main product Papa John's sells is pizza, obviously. The pizzas come in four different sizes, so there is plenty of choice to cater for any occasion. Whether you're simply eating for one as a Saturday night treat, feeding the family for a stress free tea or having a pizza party with your friends - Papa John's has a size to suit you:
Small - 9.5" - 6 Slices.
Medium - 11.5" - 8 Slices.
XL - 13.5" - 10 Slices.
XXL - 15.5" - 12 Slices.
I found that the pizza sizes supplied by Papa John's were a lot more generous than most generic individual pizza branches - so you are able to feed more people for less money! (Or just fill yourself up on a hearty meal of delicious pizza for a decent price!)
The variety of pizza flavours on offer is definately one of the best I've seen. With no less than 20 varieties on offer at one time, Papa John's has a menu fit for a king! Every potential customer has been thought about and catered for, whether you like the traditional flavours of plain 'Pepperoni' or 'Hawaiian', need to cater for a vegetarian with the 'Garden Special', want your pizza on the wild and spicy side with 'The Mexican' or 'Hot Pepper Passion', or simply love to load your pizza high with meats with the 'Il Carnivoro' and 'All The Meats'. Can't decide? Then simply opt for the 'Half and Half' and choose two delicious pizza varieties on one pizza!
Not only is there a whole sea of pizza varieties to choose from, but you also get to choose the style of base you would like to eat too! With a choice of either 'Original' or 'Authentic Thin Crust', you can tailor make your pizza to your own specifications. All pizza bases are made fresh on site with every pizza order, so whatever your choice, you are bound to enjoy your meal!
Papa John's delicious pizzas come with a price tag that is decent and fair! I've ordered from many different pizza places in my 21 years, and have found most to be overpriced for the size you order. I have also found that recently Pizza Hut and Dominos pizzas has shrunk in size and yet inflated in price which is very dissapointing! Papa John's however have a pizza price to suit every pocket. As pricing for any pizza chain goes, what you pay depends on what you order - pizzas with more toppings are in general going to cost you more money, so I have compiled a quick guidline to pizza prices:
Small: £6.99 - £10.99
Medium: £8.99 - £12.99
XL: £9.99 - £14.99
XXL: £11.49 - £16.99
Aside from the seemingly endless list of pizzas available, Papa John's also sell a variety of other products to turn your pizza take-out into an entire meal! Papa John's has a whole host of tempting sides, yummy deserts and thirst quenching drinks on offer to its customers to make their order even more delicious.
With a gigantic list of 10 different side options, Papa John's really pushes the boat out when it comes to adding that little something extra to make your meal a winner. With 3 types of chicken wings, a portion of chicken dippers, garlic bread, cheesy jalapeno bites, garlic cheesesticks, potato wedges and two different side combos, there's definately something to please everyone with these tasty sides! Papa John's sides are a welcome addition to any meal with prices from £2.99 - £4.99, you can't really go wrong!
You can also order a selection of extra dips to compliment your pizza and sides from their extensive seven dip menu featuring BBQ, Buffalo, Garlic, Pizza Sauce, Honey & Mustard, Sour Cream and Sweet Chilli. Add a few dips to your order to dunk those crusts for just an extra £0.35p. Yum yum dipping fun!
As for desserts, Papa John's tempts my mouthful of sweet teeth with its deliciously sugary menu! There are a heavenly seven desserts to choose from featuring a variety of authentic italian ice creams - 'Gelato Italiano', the classic 'New York Baked Cheesecake', the toffee and banana favourite 'Banoffee Pie', chocolate lovers choice 'Chockarocka Pie' and Papa John's very own 'Caramia' - a sweet pizza style base smothered in crème anglaise, milk chocolate buttons, and a dulche de leche caramel toffee sauce (my personal fave!). The desserts have a tempting price tag of between £2.19 and £3.99 which always sweet talks me into adding a dessert or two to my basket!
Papa John's also sell bottled drinks to accompany your meal. Choose from Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Fanta, Sprite or Schweppes Lemonade. The bottled drinks come in three different sizes: 500ml single serve bottles, a 1.25ltr share bottle or a 1.5ltr bottle. The prices respectively are £0.99 and £1.89, which is pretty decent for take away drinks prices. Take aways have a bad habit of overpricing their drinks menu, which puts me off ordering them, but Papa John's prices seem fair in comparison to what you would usually see in supermarket prices.
Not only are prices fantastic for pizzas and extras, but Papa John's also offer a wide variety of different offers on their pizzas, sides, desserts and drinks, meaning that you can generally get a fantastic offer including these items for around the same price as a XXL pizza. It is worthwhile checking the 'Deals' section of their menu before you place an order to see whether you could save yourself some money, or stretch your pennies even futher with one of the delightfully delicious deals they have available!
At Papa John's you can order online via their website, over the phone from their menu or instore if you're in the area and don't mind waiting in the shop. Ordering online is simple - just visit their website, search for your local store via your postcode and view the menu. Choose either 'pizza', 'sides', 'desserts' or 'drinks' from the tabs at the top of the menu and decide what it is you want to order. When you know what products you would like you simply choose the size from the drop down menus and add them to your basket. Once you are happy with your selections you can pay via debit or credit card and Papa John's will deliver the goods direct to your door! Ordering via phone is just as simple - dial the number for your local store and place your order direct to a member of staff. Provide them with your card details to make payment, and then simply wait for your delicious hot pizza to arrive at your door.
Papa John's aims to deliver to your door within 30 minutes of your order being placed, or have collection pizzas ready to take away in just 15 minutes of order time - and I must admit, they're always on time! Not once have I had a problem with Papa John's delivery time. They are very time efficient and the pizza is always piping hot on arrival - just how it should be!
Ontop of having a fantastic menu, Papa John's supply superb customer service! If you have any problems with placing your order, product information, amending an order or if they have missed something out, a simple phonecall can correct all manner of upsets and Papa John's employees are always helpful and polite. The last order I placed arrived missing a Banoffee Pie, and a single phonecall to the pizza shop saw the Banoffee Pie arrive back at our house within 10 minutes by an apologetic member of delivery staff. Fantastic!
In my opinion, Papa John's is right up there on my list of delicious takeaways and has overtook Domino's pizza for me. The problem I have with Domino's is that their pizza always arrives dry, lacks toppings and has a general dissapointment about it. However since discovering Papa John's I am always delighted to have a freshly made, topping filled, hot and delicious pizza arriving at my door. Pizza Hut is still my favourite for pizza, however I do prefer their food on an eat-in basis rather than takeaway as their takeaway pizzas seem to have shrunk quite a lot and are overpriced for what they are! Papa John's has become my no1 for take out pizza based on price, taste and delivery speed.

Papa John's Pizza
Description: A world-wide pizza franchise.
As it sounds like, Papa John's is a company who make pizza's for your convenience. They began in 1984 and have been successfully growing since then.
You can usually collect these pizza's yourself or have them delivered. You can ring in your order or order online. We have never had the wrong order, which is great as so many places get it wrong now and again. You can also use the website to locate your nearest store.
The menu's usually come through the door which is handy, are available online and also in store. There are usually offers on too, so it is worth checking each time as these change regularly. Also, the pizza's are always hot when they are delivered, and not lukewarm like some places.
They make their own pizza dough so it has a lovely fresh taste. There is a range of toppings including "create your own" and they often have a feature pizza too, which again, changes regularly.
They also do a variety of dips (I recommend the hot buffalo which is a really spicy, chilli sauce - delicious) and side orders such as wedges, chicken dippers, BBQ ribs etc. Then there is a a delicious (but naughty!) range of deserts to choose from. Oh and you can also get a range of soft drinks to complement your meal.
And as if this wasn't enough to convince you, their website says;
It's official - in a recent independent taste test the results showed that people preferred Papa's Pepperoni to Pizza Hut's Pepperoni Feast.
So there you go, what more do you need to know?! If you can't be bothered cooking and fancy ordering a pizza, then make Papa John's your number 1 choice!
Papa Johns Pizza is well worth seeking out. Rather than the usual run of the mill pizza leaflets that land on your doorstep this one you should try. They have good customer service and always deliver within the time or earlier specified. The pizza dough is freshly made so this makes for a much better pizza base with real flavour. They have some of the standard pizza offerings such as margaritas, pepperoni pizza, vegetarian etc. But for us the thing that is more interesting is that they regularly change and update their menu by adding one or two new pizzas. So these are on for only a limited time. although it can be annoying when you favourite one goes there seems to be always something new to try. Also well worth a try are their combo sides. The best ones i think are their jalapenos filled with cheese and chicken dippers which have proper chicken breast meat. The two for tuesday offer is great value.
A large part of my social life revolves around having friends round to visit, drinking a few beers, watching DVD's and ordering in takeaway food. Over time, we've managed to narrow down the vast pile of takeaway leaflets to a few select favourites, one of which is Papa Johns Pizza.
Papa Johns regularly drop menus through my door, as well as the occasional leaflet detailing the latest special offers and deals available. The menus are printed on matt paper, illustrated with colourful photos of the latest special pizza, and clearly laid out.
The pizzas come in 4 sizes, Small, Medium, XL, and XXL, which provide 6,8,10 and 12 generous slices. The menu is pretty good, easily able to compete with any other takeaway pizzeria, with all the old classics such as Hawaiian, Margherita, and Pepperoni, as well as some more adventurous flavour combinations. They often change their list of pizzas when they come up with a new flavour combination, so there is always something new and exciting on the menu.
Like any good pizza place, they also offer the option to create your own pizza, and have the standard range of toppings, with a few little surprises thrown in - such as goat's cheese and roasted salmon.
They also have a nice variety of side orders - cheesy jalapeno bits, wedges, and garlic bread to name a few, as well as desserts and drinks.
Prices vary - expect to pay between £6 -£10 for a small pizza depending on toppings, and between £10 and £14 for a large pizza. This is a lot more than any independent takeaways. However, they do have some offers printed on the menu that can make your bill less - my friends and I take advantage of the early week deal - Buy one pizza and side, and get another pizza OR side up to the same value free. With this, my friends and I were able to order four large pizzas and 2 sides for a little under £30.
Ordering is simple - you can do it online paying by credit card, or you can order over the phone. I tend to use the phone, and I've always found the people taking my order to be polite, although occasionally they haven't spoken very good English, which has led to struggles when I want a pizza customizing. However, they always read my order back to me to check they have it right, and I've never had the wrong food delivered.
They ask for your phone number - and if you've used the same phone number before, they'll have your address stored, which is handy and saves you repeating yourself each time. They'll generally give you an indication of how long your pizza will be, offer you the options of paying by card or cash, and then you're done ordering.
I've never had a delivery take any longer than 30 minutes, even ordering at weekends, which is very good. One thing I like about Papa John's was that on one Christmas Eve I rang to order, and the member of staff was honest enough to advise me that they were absolutely snowed under with orders and it would take a long time to arrive - I appreciated being told this before ordering, and was happy to still order - they knocked a few pounds off my bill, which was unnecessary, but much appreciated.
Delivery is free within a 3 mile radius from my local Papa Johns .
Our food has always arrived piping hot, and the pizzas are generously and attractively topped - it seems like Papa Johns have put a lot of though not only into the flavour combinations of their pizzas, but also into how they look. I also like that the pizzas all come with a small pot of garlic sauce for dipping your crust in, which is wonderful, and also with a few mild chilies.
My Pizza was the Bianco Salmon - Mascarpone and smoked garlic sauce, provola cheese, mozzarella, roasted salmon and red peppers. It was stunning to look at - vibrant red and green mixed in with chunks of pale pink salmon. Biting into it, the mild and creamy sauce was rich and moist, the asparagus and pepper still pleasantly crunchy, and the salmon beautifully flavoured.
Me being me, I also had a couple of slices of other peoples (Hawaiian, Pepperoni, and a create your own), and found them equally delicious and fresh - the ingredients were all good quality, and the toppings were very generous. I particularly liked the creamy goats cheese and tomato pizza my friend had ordered via the create your own option.
The pizzas are very large, all of us had half a pizza left at the end - which is fine, as it can be warmed up in the oven or microwave the next day and still taste delicious. Papa John's emphasize the fact that all bases are made from fresh dough, and I certainly think this is reflected in the taste.
Overall, I've had many positive experiences with Papa Johns. At one point, my local branch closed down as the franchise holder went bankrupt - it has since reopened under new management, and the food remains just as good. They are more expensive than many local pizza restaurants, but in this case I feel price is a reflection of the quality, and the special offers do make a nice dent in the bill.
