Advantages: cheap and convenient, slightly better than KFC
Disadvantages: poor quality of food
This is a very large fast food restuarant chan based in Australia. they are well known for selling roasted chicken which is why it reminds me of KFC. They sell other products other than chicken including baguettes, wraps, burgers and salads.
The Red Rooster slogan is 'It's gotta be red' and there are plenty of signs all around Australia advertising Red Rooster with their slogan. While I was in Australia I travelled on a six hour journey, towards the end of the journey we decided to stop off and get some lunch. We went to the Red Rooster in a place called Ayr in North Queensland.
My first impressions of Red Rooster were a slightly better version of KFC. It was virtually empty in there when we turned up apart from two other people. The staff in there were reasonably friendly people.
Once we had decided what we wanted we made our order, I chose the chicken flavoured Strip sub. Then we had to wait for about ten minutes while the food was being cooked.
After the short wait our food was done. My first impression on the food was that it still reminded me of KFC but it looked fractionally better in quality. I began eating the food and it was just as I had expected, tasted just like KFC. The food wasm't of very good standard, but it's probably what you would expect from a fast food chain.
So that you have a little more idea of the sorts of products they sell i'll just do a little list which will also show you that there are some differences with the types of food sold at KFC and Red Rooster:
Aussie Roast - This is basically their own version of a traditional roast dinner, a whole roast chicken, garlic and rosemary seasoned carrot and pumpkin, some potatoes, peas, gravy and some garlic bread.
Tropicana - This is a chicken leg or a chicken wing, chips and two pineapple fritters.
Strip Sub - This is a baguette filled with two chicken breast strips and lettuce in a herb sauce.
They also sell a few salads which look quite good, but never tried them which are called Skinfree grilled chicken salad and Garden salad.
Finally, they sell some seafood which includes a interesting alternative to a chicken wrap but instead it's called Fish wrap which is basically the same as any other wrap but with fish instead.
Hope that gave you more of a idea in the product selection, they sell some similar products to KFC but they do also have their original ones too like the seafood products.
If you go to Australia, you will all most definately come across a Red Rooster, however, if there are other food places around I would suggest not going to the Red Rooster because the food is not of very good quality. However, if you're a KFC fan you will love the Red Rooster or if you're a fan of any other fast food places you will probably like it too.
Summary: I would try and avoid Red Rooster if possible.
