Advantages: Bargain foods at delicious prices
Disadvantages: none
BELTAZAR RESTAURANT won Best Steakhouse in Cape Town in 2004 and believe me there are a lot to choose from.
Beltazar is the largest wine bar in the World and the glasses are one of the largest I have ever experienced when eating out and with a wine to suit everyone's taste this is the perfect place to eat out in Cape Town if you are visiting the Waterfront.
Me and my boyfriend visited twice once for lunch and once for an evening meal and both times we were completely stuffed!
The same menu is used throughout the day and consists of Starters, Salads, Grills, House Specialities, Poultry, Seafood and Desserts.
On the first visit we sat outside with underneath a parasol and with a heater as the weather was not the hottest but it was still a plesant day to sit out. We were greeted immediately by a waiter who came over with freshly baked bread and a sample of spicy sausage in a spicy chilli sauce this was delicious and completely complementary.
We ordered a bottle of Nederberg Rose which was fab although cant remember the name as I wasnt given the priviledge of selecting the wine my boyfriend chose to do it but fair enough it was a good selection.
I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad which was not a small portion by any means and cost R53/ Approx GBP5.30 definately good value for money as it is almost double the price in the UK.
My boyfriend had langoustines which are a sweet tasting crustacean and I had a taste and it tasted just like Prawn but comes in the form of a tiny lobster! This cost R70 // Approximately GBP7.00 per langoustine and it came with either baked potato, french fries or rice so still offering good value for money.
We decided to also have the puddings and me being female opted for the dreamy Chocolate Brownie which had a whole milk chocolate bar melted over it and it was one of the most orgasmic puddings I have ever had and this was R38 // Approximately GBP3.80 out of this world and if you love choccie puds you must try this when you visit.
My fella had the Tiramisu and he was biased with this pudding to start with as it is his ultimate dessert and the opinion was that again this was out of this world. R36 // Approximately GBP3.60.
On the second visit we went for our evening meal and we sat inside and it was a lot busier that our previous visit and we knew the quality of the food was superb last time so we opted for the full on 3 course meal as it offers such good value for money here.
For starter I had Avacado Ritz which was Luxury mozambican queen prawns (came with their tails still on) served with avocado and drizzled with a marie rose sauce and was delicious this again was a great price at R58 // Approximately GBP5.80 and Mark had the Peri Peri Chicken Livers which were coated in chilli, cream and brandy sauce and served with onions they did not appeal to me but was told that they were really tasted and cost R50 // Approximately GBP5.00.
For the main course I opted for the Barbeque Chicken Kebabs with a baked potato and this was R70 // Approximately GBP7.00 this was really tasty and the waitress took the chicken from the huge kebab stick for me and it was delicious. Mark again decided to opt for the langoustines and branched out with two this time costing R140 // Approximately GBP14.00.
For puddings I had the chocolate brownie again and it did not let me down! Mark however went for the 6 cheese board which cost R80 // Approximately GBP8.00 and this was provided with a glass of port, olives , water crackers and a chilli sauce.
Again we were not let down by the service or the quality of the food and I really enjoyed it again, the meal was more romantic in the evening as the lighting was dimmed and again a relaxing atmosphere perfect for couples.
Beltazar's use only A grade grainfed karian beef from South Africa and they hang the carcasses for a minimum of 28days and can be seen on display in the restaurant.
