Newest Review: ... hash browns . . . the list goes on. I am not American enough to enjoy syrup on sausage, but I’m working on it. I love coffee and juice, and plenty of it. Sadly Denny’s is not the best at any of these, and yet I still go back. The food is always uniformly mediocre, expect all day breakfasts with silly names like ‘moons over my hammy’ and the ‘grand slam’. Lunch and dinner is usually soup and burgers, chicken or steak with fries or potatoes and vegetables. Prices are reasonable but you will get better food cheaper at independent diners. Denny's is as US wide chain of restaurants, slowly expanding across the globe, but its' first outlet was in LA. Ordinarily I have one simple test for whether a suburban diner is worth visiting. Anywhere with a couple of cop cars outside usually offers great food and great service at a reasonable price. In Michigan Troy, Birmingham and Royal Oak cops do a fantastic job in alerting me to great ‘mom and pop’ eateries. I’m sure that with a little detective work you can even tell which ones have specials on, or which waitress is serving at the time!
