No visit to New York is complete without a trip to Stingy Lulu’s (129 St. Marks Place, East Village). Drag queens pose, sing and serve your food, in this fabulous bar/restaurant, reminiscent of a 50s Diner.
To experience Lulu’s at its best, spend your Sunday in one of her comfy red booths with a group of friends. Arrive by 11am to beat the crowds and take your pick from the fabulous Brunch Menu, where you can enjoy a ‘hair-of-the-dog’ tipple, unlimited tea and coffee, and one of many huge, delicious dishes, all for under $10. You will forget you ever had a hangover, as you listen to the jukebox, choose cocktails from the extensive menu, and take in the funky, East Village crowd, unfolding around you.
I can’t count how many weekends I spent there, after living in Manhattan for a year, but I do know that it’s the place I miss the most!
