I'm absolutly adore Rome. I will be going back for the second time next week. The food there is out of this world! There is something to suit everyones different tastes and budgets. If your walking around very touristy parts like the Trevi Fountain, be sure to havea look down the side streets for some fantasic home made italian food. I have found from personal experience, restaurants and cafes close to attractions are extremely over priced. Just take your time to look around and see where the best deals are. I have visited La Costanza in Rome, I recommend this restaurant. It is based under an old theatre and the ambience when you walk in hits you. ... Read the complete review

Rome's an incredible city, and the food can be amazing. Simple ingredients put together in simple ways to make something astonishing. It's better to drop off the tourist trail a bit when looking for restaurants in Rome because places catering to local tastes tend to have higher standards than tourist places. A fantastic lunchtime staple is pizza a taglio. This is quite literally pizza by weight - shops will have various types of pizza, normally in massive industrial-sized rectangles, on display and will slice you off as much as you want and charge you by its weight. The Carbanara over there is like bacon and eggs (but really really good!) and the Spaghetti Vongole is mind blowing - ... Read the complete review

We just got back from a week long trip to Rome and Venice. First thing first, be prepared that Italians, well...speak Italian. Hardly anyone but those at the ticket counters and tourist information centres speak decent English. Common sense and some finger pointing should get you what you want... most of the time; plus money of course. Quite a bit of it. It is generally expensive to eat in Rome. Myself and my partner are not picky eaters and we were simply not willing to fork out some 50euro for an italian dine in experience, which is easily what a meal for two would cost in Rome. I read up a bit on dining in Rome before I travelled there and one of the best ... Read the complete review

Stopping overnight in Rome can be daunting but we stumbled upon at lovely little hotel in a sleepy suburb to the North East of the city. Asking reception where to eat, they recommended 'Hostaria Menenio Agrippa' at 631 Via Nomentana. It was only just round the corner but when we arrived it was heaving - pizzas were flying out of the kitchen and the pasta dishes looked superb. We decided not to wait for a table (we really advise reserving in advance) as we found out that the pizzas could be ordered to take away. We chose from the extensive menu a Capricosa and a Calzone and they were prepared within a few minutes. Whilst we were waiting we browsed the main menu ... Read the complete review
