Advantages: Fantastic city, fantastic views and fantasitc food!
Disadvantages: ok it is a bit pricey - but if your on holiday just enjoy it!
Rome in two words is; magnificently beautiful.
The restaurants in Rome are pretty much the same!
Some may look like run down shacks but to be honest they are the best ones! Italian food is so simple yet so beautiful, delicate and very tasty..
If you do go you should try the Brunchette, with fresh mozzarella and the biggest juiciest tomatoes! They serve this practically in every restaurant and makes a fantastic sharing starter. I was advised when I went to try the Carbonara and the Spaghetti Vongole - and I am so glad I did!
The Carbanara over there is like bacon and eggs (but really really good!) and the Spaghetti Vongole is mind blowing - it looks like spaghetti with a few clams over it but when you put it in your mouth the simple buttery white wine sauce it is laced in just makes you want more.
The price of food is what you would expect for Rome. It is after all a tourist magnet so they are bound to have slightly higher prices. It does cost you slightly more to sit outside - but if you have a beautiful view it is well worth the extra bit of money (usually around £2 - £3 more).
On average a table for two, if you pick a restaurant in a busy popular location (like Piazza Novona and Trevi Fountain) with table service you will pay around Euro55/Euro65 for a three course meal. If you are visiting for pleasure treat yourself!
The food is well worth the money and the city is such a magnificent place to sit and enjoy a meal, or even just to enjoy a large glass of wine..
Summary: Sit and enjoy a meal, or even just to enjoy a large glass of wine in this magnificent city
