One of the ways in with the vocabulary of Austrian German differs from that of Hochdeutsch(Standard German) is that the cultural and culinary influences on Austria have been allowed to leave their lasting mark on Austrian German. It therefore comes as no surprise that it is possible to eat a wide variety of sumptuous cuisine in Vienna - often considerably more cheaply than in London, and that a holiday in Vienna will often leave enduring memories of the fine food and wine that is to be enjoyed here - it isn't just Wiener Schnitzel until it comes out of your ears...
