Advantages: Outstanding food.. surely the main point of any restaurant!

Disadvantages: Ambience a bit lacking (as most Indian restaurants!), prices are high

The Tandoor Palace is one of the oldest Indian restaurants in Warsaw, the owner an Indian-Singaporean ensures that the food is well prepared and cooked by his Nepalese chefs. The menu consists of Indian, Singaporean and some other S.E Asian cuisine. I have a preference for the Indian food and have sampled just about everything on the menu.

My favourite main meals are the Chicken Tikka Butter Massala and the Dahl Makahani, starters like the garlic naan, Chicken Toni and Onion Bahji's are superb. Pappadums and a selection of sauces are free on the house. A great vegetarian option is Malai Kofta, balls of vegetables in an amazing green yoghurty sauce.

Not only is this the best Indian restaurant in Warsaw but it's also the best I've ever tasted internationally (including the Uk and Germany as well.) The location of the restaurant (Ul. Marszalkowska 18) is fairly good, just 3 tram stops or 1 metro stop from Metro Centrum in the heart of the city. Cold Okocim or Kingfisher and superb Massala Tea are available as is a wide range of other additional beverages.

The restaurant holds a special Curry Club/ Comedy Club downstairs on a Wednesday night where locals and expats wanting to do some stand-up can have an open mic session. It's an all you can eat/drink affair for 150zl.

The prices generally are high by Polish standards and it will cost you around 140zl (35 pounds) for 2 people and I find their website quite over-the-top with Indian music and a huge amount of things happening at once.

Tandoor Palace also have a sister restaurant on the outskirts of the city called Asian Village, this is near the Hindu Temple and has an Indian shop selling spices and ingredients as well.

Summary: A must visit!
