      A must-visit when at Disney!

My husband and I visited the Yak & Yeti in early October 2011.

The Yak and Yeti is an imaginatively themed pan-asian restaurant in Walt Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park. The fun back-story of the restaurant is on the back of the menu and explains how it is a hotel for wealthy travellers in a small village called Anandapur at the foot of Everest, and it is positioned practically next door to the entrance of the 'Everest' rollercoaster to keep the story viable! The restaurant is decorated with art from all over Asia and the waiting staff are very good at explaining where the art is from and encourage visitors to walk around and halve a look at everything, they seem especially proud of the staircase which has been imported from India. There is no denying that the surroundings are wonderful and interesting.

The food is just as varied and interesting as the surroundings. I ordered the Maple Tamarind Chicken and my husband ordered the Angus burger, having been assured by the waitress that it would be the best burger he'd eat on vacation. She wasn't wrong! Both meals were cooked beautifully and the flavours were outstanding. The presentation is excellent and we wished that we had 2 stomachs so we could eat the meals all over again! Portions are generous without being overbearing and we were not waiting too long for it to arrive.

The waiting staff are excellent, being attentive without overstaying their welcome and the manager made sure that she visited every table to check that the diners were satisfied with everything which was a nice touch, it felt like we were very well looked after.

We were lucky to go at a quiet time so did not need a reservation, we would have been sorely disappointed to have missed out on a meal here because we had not planned ahead. It was fairly expensive, about $60 for 2 mains and 2 cocktails but well worth it for the quality- and one gets sick of hot dogs for lunch quite quickly! This is definitely on our list for when we return where we will be doing the Disney Dining Plan and taking full advantage of it!
