      shopping for toddlers

I was looking for something a little different for my son for his second birthday. A lot of his very big and main presents were very traditionally 'boys toys' - garages, cars, fire engines etc so I wanted to get him a few things that he could play with differently. He had always shown an interest in shopping with mummy and food, so when I saw this shopping trolley play set in Argos I decided to go for it.

The trolley play set is priced at £9.99 but it is also part of the two for £15 promotion that is regularly on at Argos (this is still currently running until January 2014). I bought this alongside a cash register so that as my son's ability for imaginative play developed, we could use these together to play shop. The trolley is recommended for use from 3 years of age but there were no small parts so I was happy to give it to my son at two years of age.

The trolley is made of plastic and, to be honest, does look quite cheap. Not a surprise given the price paid but it certainly does the job nevertheless. It comes in a few large pieces in a cardboard box - the base with wheels, the body of the trolley and the handle pieces. These are very easy to slot together (no instructions necessary!) and I was able to put the trolley together within a minute or two. The trolley basket is coloured red, the base and handle yellow and the wheels blue so it is equally suited for use by boys and girls alike. The trolley is a nice size for my son at 2 years old (H 50cm x W 22cm x D 39.5cm) so I am surprised by the age recommendation of 3 years plus as I would imagine that the average three year old would need to bend slightly to push this along, so it wouldn't have a great lifespan as the child ages and grows. It is lightweight and easy to push but this very same property means that it can be hard to control and tip easily too especially when in use by a very enthusiastic and clumsy toddler.

With the trolley, you also get 30 food items for shopping with. My son has a play food set from the Early Learning Centre and the items provided with the trolley are certainly no match for this in terms of quality or variety. Provided with the trolley you get various cardboard boxes in net form that you need to make up for things like breakfast cereal. These are easy to make up but very flimsy and quite boring to look at - they certainly do not hold my son's attention well. Faring better with my son, you also get a few tin cans (you need to apply the sticky labels on these yourself) - for beans, coffee and cola and a plastic carton with six white eggs in. My son loves the eggs but the carton hasn't lasted well at all - as soon as he worked out how to open it and get the eggs out it began splitting and split plastic can be sharp and therefore dangerous to a toddler so we had to dispose of it.

My son does like playing with the trolley alongside his playfood set and, more recently, his cash register. He enjoys pushing this around our lounge and filling it with the food that he recognises and names. He also fills with various other toys and uses it to transport them around the room. He does only use this for limited amounts of time - there is only so much he can do with it - but he does enjoy filling and emptying it. It is a toy that he will choose to play with regularly, but only in short bursts.

I think the trolley is a nice, cheap accessory for a play shop if you have one and makes a change from the usual toy shopping baskets you see. For the money, you can't really expect much more from it and it serves a purpose. It is a toy that my son can use to play with imaginatively and he does have fun with it. The accessories provided are not the most imaginative or the best quality but they too serve a purpose and are a good start for a play food set. Overall, a decent shopping trolley toy for a good price.

        Chad Valley shopping trolley

One of the items my little girl received for Christmas this year was a Chad Valley shopping trolley. She loves playing pretend, "go to the shop," and buying me things and so we thought it would be a great gift for her. Plus we have lots of play fruit, vegetables, cans etc that we have from different sets so I knew these would work perfectly in the trolley too.

The trolley is made to resemble a proper supermarket trolley, ie you are able to push it along as it has four wheels and a long handle that juts up and stretches the whole way along the basket. There is a basket attached to the wheels for you to add all your shopping goodies to. Obviously, the trolley is made out of plastic and looks a bit cheap and plasticky if I'm honest but my kids love it so I guess that's all that matters.

The trolley came in a box and you did need to assemble it but all this entailed was snapping the four wheels onto the wheel base, the basket onto the top of the wheel base and the handle into the basket so really four snaps and its done. There are two stickers you can add to the side of the trolley that says Chad Valley on them and it makes it look like a proper supermarket trolley.
The trolley is quite flimsy so when you push it the wheels do go round but not always although its still fun to push. I wouldn't recommend this trolley for toddlers who cannot walk yet as its not sturdy enough to use as a walker. Being flimsy does come in handy though as my little girl is able to lift this trolley up and move it around if it gets stuck so that is good.
This trolley has been a hit with both my kids since we for it and they love pushing it around. One thing I don't like so much about it though is the food and groceries it came with. Luckily we have lots of play fruit and vegetables which we can use in this trolley but it didn't come with much and what it did do in my opinion is quite cheap and tacky looking.

There are three plastic cans which are a pretend CV (Chad Valley) brand, a CV soda, CV beans and CV coffee. Then there is one plastic apple and one plastic bread roll and that's it, not great in my opinion. There is an egg tray with 6 white plastic eggs which are actually quite good and are definitely the favourites with my kids.

There are some cardboard boxes of food too which are ok. They come flat and you just need to bend and fold them to put them together. There are 19 boxes in total with 6 varieties including button biscuits, tea bags, golden flakes, chocolate muffins, regular biscuits and pasta twirls. The nice thing is that I can put some of these away as replacements as in our house these cardboard boxes always get trod on and crushed and so to have some spares is great.

A fun toy if your kids love shopping roll play.

A lovely little toy to encourarage and enhance imagination.

My youngest son loves to play with push or pull along toys, and last Christmas I was trying to find extra gifts for him and discovered this in Argos on the 2 for £15 offer making it £7.50, it retails at £9.99 for the individual price which I think is very reasonable. When it arrived it came in a fairly large card board box which has a picture of the item emblazed on all sides (if my memory serves me right.) The item is made of bright coloured plastic, and is a simply click together design. There are the blue plastic wheel s and handle a red basket and a yellow frame which assembles very quickly and easily. The item also includes shopping item like grey plastic toy tins and cardboard boxes of pretend foods, which need assembly but this not at all difficult or time consuming. The trolley seemed fairly hardy and my little one loved it, but the top basket half kept popping off the wheels, which frequently upset my son, so we ended up super gluing it together.

The item is stated to be designed for three years and over but I purchased this for my son when he was 18 months old and all seemed fine from a safety aspect although I did hold back on giving him the shopping until he was a little older. He gained a lot of enjoyment from this item and still plays with it today. It is a wonderful toy to enhance imaginative play and creativity. Whenever we go shopping we now have to take this along and my little one enjoys selecting items from the shelves to put in his trolley. This is not good for children who are unsteady on their feet as it is very lightweight and therefore could cause them to fall. It isn't designed for anything heavy to be placed in it either for obvious safety reasons.
The dimensions are H50, W22, and D39.5cm and the product is made by Chad Valley which is a well-known name.

This is a lovely little toy with lots of potential, just one small flaw which I have been able to rectify myself with no hassle at all. This has not altered my overall opinion of the product as my son absolutely loves this and plays with it frequently and for long periods. This has definitely been one of my better buys for him as many toys are played with a few times then are left in the toy box unused.

            time to shop!

            *~*Chad Valley Shopping Trolley*~*

This shopping trolley is aimed at children over the age of 3 and promotes roleplay. It measures 50 x 22 x 39.5cm. The trolley comes boxed in a few pieces. There is a basket, a yellow frame, 4 blue wheels and 3 handles which need to be set into place. The box also has 30 items of pretend food.

            *~*Price*~*

This trolley set can be bought from Argos for £9.99. It is part of a 2 for £15.00 offer across a selected lines of toys.

            *~*Our Thoughts*~*

I would like to note here that although my son received this for Christmas 2011, we have had use of the same trolley at his grand parents home for the past year (several days a week). My parents have several toys stored at their home for indoor and outdoor use and both my son and nephew have had great use from his trolley. Seeing my sons enjoyment of playing with this trolley, we decided to buy him one for our home. I bought our trolley from Argos alongside a till set and believe £15.00 for both was a bargain!

The trolley was basically packaged in a cardboard box. I assembled the trolley myself on Christmas day and found this to be very easy to do (without the need for instructions). The basket clicks securely onto the frame and is very sturdy once in place. The wheels are easy to secure in place and the only fiddly bit was the handle. This is no fault of the manufacturer though, it was me holding the pieces at a wrong angle and getting frustrated! The overall trolley looks attractive due to the bright colours.

There is a few bits included with this trolley. There are some silver cans with no labels (and therefore boring looking), a box of white eggs, a roll and a few pieces of fruit. There is a pack of foldable boxes which need assembled and they are labelled as biscuits, pasta etc. Once assembled, they aren't the sturdiest and some have been squashed already. The eggs and tins are of a decent quality though.

After a year, the majority of the boxes in the other set have been torn or squashed beyond use. The choice of food included isn't brilliant and very basic but this is to be expected from such a cheap set. My parents bought additional play food for the boys to play with and we plan on doing the same.

            *~*Doing The Shopping!*~*

My son was over the moon to receive his very own trolley and has played with it a lot in our house so far. Once assembled, the trolley is a decent size and is made from lightweight plastic. The other trolley has withstood rough play outside and inside and has survived with minimal scuffs to the wheels so I assume this one will be equally as durable. We will only use ours indoors unless we take it out anywhere.

My son loves pushing the trolley in the supermarket but doesn't often get to go with me as I go when he is at his Grans. My son is tall for his age (at 3 and a half) and the handles are just the right height for him to comfortably push the trolley. The trolley is very lightweight and he can lift it even with several bits of play food in it. It can be pushed smoothly along carpet or laminate and even on grass and paving slabs.

My son and nephew often play with one of the trollies at their grandparents and take it in turn to have a shot. In our home, Boo has played with it alone so far but we have also set up his till and he now has his own "shop" and "cafe". In the past 2 days, our trolley has been well used. I have put the different food pieces around our home and Boo has scooted around like he is on supermarket sweep and collected the different products. I do wish they had labels on them though!

Anyway, the basket is quite deep and wide. It comfortably holds all of the play food included but so far we have had toy cars, teddies, packets of sweets and the play food in it. The basket doesn't have holes at the base which stops anything falling through it and Boo finds it very easy to load up his trolley and carry on with his shopping. The food included has been served up to Mummy and Daddy as breakfast and I can see how much enjoyment my son has from playing with this. Even his teddies have had their shopping done!

The food pieces included are the perfect size to go along the conveyor belt in the Chad Valley till set.

            *~*Conclusion*~*

The Argos website claims that the hand can be folded down to store though I cannot figure out how to do this. We have enough space to store this in his current position and it makes ideal storage space for bits and pieces. It isn't a massive trolley though and will fit neatly in a small space. The plastic can be wiped down easily and I have already cleaned ours with a wipe as my son spilled juice in the basket and it turned sticky. Our other trolley at my parents home is stored in the cellar and therefore gettings a bit dusty. It is easy to clean up and after a year, it still looks almost new so top marks!

I would recommend buying this and the till set together. The quality of both is good and it is a classic toy combination which I am sure my son will appreciate for quite a while. He may grow out of the trolley by about 5 though as my neice no longer shows and interest in it. It is great for role play and having both toys together offers lots of fun hours of play and your child could have their own little shop. I had something similar as a child and was always happy when playing shop.

If you have a child who loves going shopping and you have room in the car, this trolley could be dragged along and you could encourage your child to help by putting a few bits in their trolley.

Overall both myself and Boo can recommend the Chad Valley trolley. The food pieces could provide a choking hazzard hence the over 3 recommendation and I agree with this though any child should be supervised regardless. The design would appeal to a boy or girl.

            Thanks for reading!

*Since posting this review on ciao, we have added to our supermarket collection and now have a huge Chad Valley play food set too!

Great toy for a great price!!

My niece is at the age where everything revolves around imaginary play. She is two and loves to play games which involve pretend and imagination. So when I saw this in my argos catalogue for only £9.99 I thought it would be great for her birthday.

This product is manufactured by Chad valley. I have to say that I love Chad valley toys as in my experience, they offer excellent value for great quality items. This trolley is no different as I was very impressed with the quality of the items.

The trolley is hard wearing and realistic. The wheels are sturdy and manouvure easily. The trolley can be adjusted to two individual hights, so the toy can grow with the child. The fact that the trolley is red is also great, as it is not a typical boyish or girly colour so can be used by both sexes.

The trolley, I have found to be very sturdy. It is easy to wash over so it has kept in excellent, clean condition. The toy also comes with a variety of pretend food. I thought that the food was an excellent addition to this toy. It is certainly what my neice loves playing with the most. She loves to pile the food up and then I have to go into her 'shop'. Although this is fun, I have also found that it has promoted her learning as she is getting used to her colours and also counting.

Although the food has been used alot. Most of the products which are made from hard plastic have kept really well and in excellent conditon. However, the pretend cereal packets which were made out of cardboard, didn't last two minutes as they just fell apart.

I think this toy offers fantastic value for money. It is great fun and offers plenty of opportunities for promoting speech and imagination. Also it is very well made and offers peace of mind as it is very safe.
I would most certainly recommend this toy. excellent buy.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

a lovely toy to get the imagination going

My daughter was bought this trolley for Christmas when she was two years old as she was just starting with imaginative play, the trolley costs £9.99 in Argos but at the time all £9.99 toys were on offer of 2 for £15 so we got a good deal.

The trolley is made of red plastic with rectangular holes cut out in a mesh like way just as a normal shopping trolley has between the metal, it has a yellow base below the trolley with four blue plastic wheels attached and it has a blue handle to push the trolley. I was quite surprised that being made of plastic and having holes cut out of it that the edges weren't quite sharp but they aren't as bad as what I thought they would be, The handle of the trolley has a little button on it so it can be adjusted into two different positions although you have to click the button on both sides of the trolley at the same time so it is quite difficult for a child to do.

With the trolley you get a variety of different pretend foods, a sausage, some bread, cheese, boxes of cereal etc, tins of soup, a chicken, a box of eggs, some coffee and some fruit, I think that was all. The food included is all made of quite hard plastic, it doesn't push in when your child stands on it which is good as I don't have to spend my time putting everything back into shape. The coffee and tins have little labels on them and the cheese and bread have detailing on them to make them more realistic. We found that the little boxes of pretend cereal were pretty useless as once our daughter had pretended to make breakfast a couple of times the boxes were squashed and would no longer stay folded in a 3D shape so these headed for the bin. The eggs were in a transparent egg box and we found that a couple of the edges of this got quite sharp after it had been played with a bit so this too headed for the bin, other than that the playset was really good.

Our daughter is now nearly 4 and she still plays with this toy, we have progressed form the straight forward pretending she is doing the shopping and now plays with this with her kitchen to make us all tea and with her till to take the shopping experience that bit further. When she first got this she thought it was fun to pretend to eat the food so it was a good job it is very sturdy. We have bought her some extra bits of food to go with this toy just for the fact of what we threw away and we wanted her to play with more fruit as an encouragement that we have the real thing she can eat and it's healthy.

This is an ideal toy for when the imaginative play begins as long as your little one isn't as evil as mine and chases the dogs with the trolley.

A great toy that provides lots of fun!

I bought this for my son for Christmas a couple of years ago (Yes I mean son).
We were at a friends house and he loved playing with the kitchen and so I decided the theme for the presents would be kitchen and shopping related items.

Argos had this shopping trolley as part of their 2 for £15 offer or £10 each. I bought it in the 20% off and paid around £7 so even cheaper than the offer that's usually on.The first present my son opened was this one. It comes in pieces in the box and the box seems a little small. Once you open it up you are greeted with brightly coloured plastic parts, plastic toy food and flat boxes that can be made into play foods as well. It's really easy to piece together, it literally takes a couple of minutes to click the pieces together. It seems a little flimsy but for the price you can't really complain. My son is 2 and it seems a little small and would benefit from being a little taller considering it is marked as 3+.

Anyhow, on opening this and setting it up my son wasn't interested in the mountains of other parcels that were there to be opened he was happy running up and down with it and putting the play food in and out. He has played with this trolley alone for most of the time since Christmas Day and as a result only finished opening the Christmas presents 4 days post christmas!!

My son played with this virtually every day since the day he got it until I decided he was a little old for it and it was becoming more of a battering ram than a trolley. It had around 14-16 months of constant use and despite the battering it took on several occasions it was still in very good condition. I did find that after prolonged use the wheels began to pop off whenever they felt like which was a bit of a hazard especially when it was being used as safety while running along. The basket also came away from the trolley base extremely easy and I was forever putting it back together again, I think there would have been a benefit if there had been a stronger locking system rather than a very faint click. The bars on the trolley I found were wide enough to hold the toy food and a multitude of other items although when he got older the toy cars and things would fall through, personally I prefer the wider bars as it means no stuck fingers or toes or anything else children might stick in there.

Overall although the trolley isn't the tallest or the strongest I do think for the money it is great value and provided a lot of fun for my son. I do think as per my previous review that as this is aimed at role playing it is not marketed at the right age group nor is it sturdy or strong enough to cope with the younger market. It seems that this product although having good intentions just doesn't fit with the market it is intended for. I would recommend it but not for the purpose of role play more for putting toys in and out and carrying items from one place to another which so many children enjoy doing. I also like that this is marketed as a unisex item and isn't just given in a pink, flowery design they have recognised boys like shopping trolleys too!

A brill little set for role playing!

For my twins 3rd birthday in November they were given loads of Role Play presents as since starting Playgroup back in January they have fell in love with anything that involves kitchens, food and shopping.

As you can imagine then, they were both extremely pleased to receive a shopping trolley as on of their birthday presents.

This shopping trolley is in fact Chad Valley's Shopping Trolley.

This particular shopping trolley can be bought from Argos and it costs £9.99 or is usually in the 2 for £15 offer.

The trolley comes flat packed as much as possible in a cardboard box which has a picture of the trolley on it which helps when setting it up.

Within the box you have your seperate trolley pieces which you have to assemble following the instructions which are provided. You also have plastic bags, one filled with stickers, another with cardboard products and the last being plastic food items.

The trolley is very easy to clip together, simply by attaching the wheels to the legs and then the trolley basket clicks in on top. Once the trolley is put together it resembles a proper shopping trolley brilliantly, it's bright and colourful so really appealing for any child and it is surprisingly sturdy, considering each piece of the trolley feels quite thin and flimsy when holding them individually. Don't get me wrong it's not the best quality plastic, but I didn't expect that for the price, and it will break eventually, but it can be used and played with exactly as you would use a trolley without the worries of it snapping with just a simple push.

The cardboard boxes that come with the set are food boxes such as Cereal, they are flat and you do have to fold them together by their fold lines and push their lids in and bottoms up, which is fairly easy to do. But it is probably easier for them to be squashed too as they are very thin and flimsy pieces of cardboard so won't last long at all.

The food items include a few plastic food bits such as fruit and veg and you also have tins of food which is where the stickers come in. You do have to label these tins by putting the stickers around them which is simple to do really. The food also includes a 6 pack of eggs, 6 little white eggs which are fairly hard plastic sitting in a see through plastic case just like an egg packet which really excited me for some reason lol, the plastic case was squashed in an instant though I'm afraid it's so thin and well useless really, it just looks good when you first open it!

The trolley is a brilliant height for young children, and they can really role play with it and pretend they are out shopping. Or for some parents actually take them out shopping, there is no way though me and my twins will each be pushing a trolley around Asda I'm afraid lol. The wheels run smoothly and the trolley holds quite a few toys too which is good, so I'm forever checking out food at their play tills too. I did buy these for the twins honestly!

For the price I paid I wasn't expecting a fantastic play set but I am really pleased with it and so are my boys. It is a shame I know they are not going to last very long though, half the food have reached it's shelf life already, I think the boxes were useless within the first hour as they had been squashed. Although I am pleased with the play set and my boys happily play with them everyday, this product does lose stars from me due to the quality. The trolleys are going to come apart more often than not and I'm surprised they havn't completely broke already but my boys havn't shown their true heavy handedness to them yet for some reason lol! If you would be happy with a cheap and cheerful product though which is enjoyable for a child to play then this is a good play set to start a child off!

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

                  Great for fuelling imaginations.

We got this from Argos (Chad Valley appears to be Argos's own brand of toys I believe) and got it on the 2 for £15 offer when buying a birthday gift for a friend so it cost us £7.50 - I beleive it was totally worth the money.

It came in a compact box and at first I thought there was no way all that stuff could fit in there, but when I opened it I realised why. You have to put all the boxes together yourself and stick all the labels on the cans. The trolley is also self assembly but is very easy and took hardly any time.

My daughter loves playing with the eggs, although she squashes the egg box. The packets of things haven't been played with as much but she will occasionally tip all the bits out (I use the original box to store all the food in) and pretend to eat the bits and pieces.

The shopping trolley however she absolutely loves! She regularly toddles around with her trolley filling it up with things to 'buy' and brings it too me to pretend to be the shopkeeper and packs it all into a little bag. It variously gets used as a substitute pram (when her other 2 prams are full!?!?!) and she tries to hang hand bags and stuff over the handles to imitate me.

The only down side is that every time we go shopping she wants to take it with her to do her own shopping and we have to negotiate with a 2 year old to get ther to leave it at home!

It is a good size for her to push as well, one disadvantage is that it does seem a little flimsy, however, it has had plenty of use already and still looks good.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

Would invest in something a little bit more sturdy

I Brought this trolley for my son last Christmas when he was 2 and a half as he is always trying to help mummy with the shopping. It only cost £9.99 at Argos for which you get a shopping trolley and also 30 pieces of play food. Once you take the trolley out the box you have to clip the wheels and the trolley handle on that are done quite easily no need for instructions. The trolley is red and yellow and looks just how a supermarket trolley should look its in right proportion for a toddler to role play with.

As soon as I took the trolley out I realised it was poor quality it already seemed a bit shakey and as if it would break easily. Also when I took the toy food out of it 3 quarters of it are actually cardboard and again not very good quality.
So when Connor came down in the morning one of the first things he started to play with was this trolley and within just 20 minutes the wheels had come off and need clipped on again. This continued to happen over and over all the while that my little boy played with it every 15-20 minutes's or every time it had a slight bump the wheels would pop off.

While playing with the pretend food pieces that come with the trolley it became apparent they were just useless. There were also about 3 of the each of the same item which is not very good for fuelling a child's imagination Even just picking up the cardboard boxes to put in the trolley in a toddlers hand they began to cave. To be honest by the end of boxing day three quarters of the toys ended up in the bin. The plastic sauce bottles and other plastic pretend food of which there were about 8 lasted well and actually they are still played with today with my daughters cash register.

My son continued to play with his trolley for around a month but within this time I must have put the wheels and the handle back on over 100 times. My son would try to clip it back on but it was just a bit too fiddily for him too do. The plastic on the trolley itself actually poor value and with every bang and crash which can be expected with toddlers it would bend. After the month my son gave up on it and it actually got taken away with my skip I hired when I was doing up my house.

It does recommend this trolley for 3 years or older but I think it is suitable from about 2 as there are no small parts or anything of danger to a younger child. My son did get some good use out of it but it is just such bad quality and so annoying having to reattach the pieces over and over again. At £10 or 2 for £15 at Argos it is not bank breaking but I feel it could be a little better quality. Personally I would not buy it again but the part of it that lets it down the most is the pretend food I would advise buying some separately if you are going to purchase this trolley.

After looking at other reviews it seems they are all 5 stars so maybe i for a defective one but then i thought my niece also has the same problems with hers so I am not alone in my verdict!

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

A great value toy for hours of fun

This trolley is great and it comes with play food to make it even more fun.

I paid £7.50 for this trolley which is a complete bargain as you can buy lots of more expensive ones but this is just perfect and cannot fault it.

It is lovely bright colours of red, blue and yellow and unlike some shopping trolleys you get it is suitable for both boys and girls and it is really eyecatching.

The size of the basket of this trolley is really good as it is nice and deep and fits all of the food that comes with it in. My son loves to take out the food and put it all back in and spends ages doing it. He also spends ages looking at the food boxes and seems to feel like he has something really grown up.

Another good thing about it is that it moves across the floor really well and goes easily on both carpet and laminate flooring.

The one thing I would say is that the food that comes with it is not all sturdy and robast and so my son has managed to squash a couple of the things but for the price I paid for it I cannot complain at all.

Also the trolley doesn't feel completely sturdy but is nice and strong for my son to push but don't think it is a toy that will last for years but again for the price what can you expect.

This toy is so simple but yet so entertaining and keeps my son happy for hours. It is definately a bargain and I would recommend it to all my friends.

                  Disadvantages

                  -

When my daughter received a toy till for her birthday she also received this Chad Valley trolley playset. My daughter uses this all the time and it is a really well played with toy.

The trolley is made out of sturdy and durable plastic. It has a blue handle, red basket part which makes up the body of the trolley and yellow legs with blue wheels attached. It is very bright and very appealing.

The trolley is a really good size for children and measures H50xW22xD39. When we put it all together I was really surprised at how deep the trolley was. It is perfect for filling up as my daughter loves to pile things high and transport them, especially the play food. All of her play food fits nicely in the trolley. I should add that the trolley also comes with 30 pieces of food to accompany it.

It stands nicely upright when being pushed along by your child. My daughter leans a bit too much weight on it sometimes but it never tips up underneath her.

The food that the trolley comes with is of a pretty good quality. Though like the Chad Valley food set the ones which are just cardboard boxes are a real problem as they easily tear or can easily crush. There is a variety of food - eggs, cheese, cereals, sausages, chocolate, bread. It is a nice selection especially if your child doesn't already have some. Most of the items are made from plastic.

The shopping trolley is ideal for kids to do role playing games with. My daughter is forever playing shop with it and usually takes turns with me in being the sales assistant and the shopper.

It is a really nice little role play toy. It is great for the imagination and for them to act out different roles which are a part of life. My daughter can spend hours playing with this so it was definately a good buy for £12.99. I would recommend buying it with a till or supermarket set as it really compliments it. My daughter also uses it as a trolley for moving stuff about like her Littlest Pet Shop toys or her Zhu Zhu's as she has so many of them she cannot carry them! So it comes into handy for moving stuff about too.

                  Highly recommended toy.

                  Lots of Play Value!

Chad Valley Shopping Trolly Play Set

I purchased this Chad Valley toy shopping trolly with accessories just over 4 weeks ago from my local Argos. I bought it for my neice who is 4 years old and it cost £9.99.

The Chad Valley toy shopping trolly comes boxed, the box is brightly coloured and shows you exactly what's in the box - a toy shopping trolly. Chad Valley have been very conscious about the packaging of this toy. The shopping trolly fits neatly into the box and there is no excessive packaging - just enough packaging to keep the shopping trolly from getting damaged. In my book this is a big bonus and for this reason I will consider buying other Chad Valley toys.

The shopping trolly comes almost ready to use, there is minimal assembly just the handle of the trolly to secure and the accessories to unpack. It can be played with almost immediately.

The toy shopping trolly and accessories are made completely from plastic. The trolly is a bright red colour with a blue handle and blue wheels. The trolly is quite rebust even though it is made from plastic. There are no rough surfaces to cut little hands and there are no tiny parts of the trolly which could be removed and eaten. The food accessories are also made from plastic and cardboard, they have been made in realistic colours and they can all fit in to the shopping trolly together.

The trolly pushes well because of it's light construction and it is quite stable because of it's 4 weels. Overall this toy seems to be a bargain at £9.99.

My neice really likes this toy, she has had lots of fun with the 30 toy food items that come with the trolly. She has also used the trolly as a pram for her dolly. The trolly is a toy that's suitable for both boys and girls. The colours have been designed well with no pink in sight and the toy food items would also appeal to both boys and girls.

I really feel this toy is a bargain at £9.99. It is fit for purpose and the 30 food items supplied with the trolly offer lots of play value. The box says from 3 years and above. I think personally this would suit children aged 2 years to 5 years. Great to keep little people amused!

                  Height - 50cms
                  Width - 22cms
Trolly handle can be folded down for easy storage.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

Be prepared to buy extra food items to replace the broken boxes.

We have had this trolley set for a few years now and it still gts played with a lot in our house. We bought it along with a toy kitchen.

It is a shopping trolley which comes with 30 pieces of pretend food from the supermarket. The trolley is a good height and size for little ones. The dimensions are H50xW22xD39. The basket is quite deep which is pretty good as my kids tend to love overfilling it. The handle on the trolley folds down ( just click it at the bottom) although this doesn't save much room when storing it. But the food items do all fit into the basket so it can be kept tidy.

The colours of the trolley are bright and cheerful and it is easy to push, the wheels are quite small but they do the job fine.

The trolley is made out of a sturdy plastic although the back wheels on ours are a little bit wobbly. However, it has been dragged round the garden, house even Tescos so it has had a lot of use and that is the only sign of wear and tear to the trolley.

The items of food are ok, they're not very well designed for young children in my opinion. There isn't much variety, there are eggs, cheese, juice, sausage, chocolate, coffee, chicken bread and cereal. Some more fruits and veg would have been good. There are a lot of boxes of cereal and cartons of juice but these are all made out of cardboard and are easily squashed out of shape and ripped. It would have been better to just have had one or two of these and more items made out of plastic.

The shopping trolley is a great way for kids to enjoy role playing games and to use their imagination. My kids love to pretend they are chefs and try to create interesting food choices! It is also great for explaining about healthy eating- this is where more fruit and veg would have come in useful.

The shopping trolley is a good buy, especially when bought with a toy kitchen or something similar, it can be very entertaining for children and they love pretending to be a grown up.

The trolley is aimed at children 3 years and up but my son used this from a young age, we just took away the smaller food items.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

Good value for money and quality.

My grandson is almost 19 months old and he is now beginning to like to role play as he goes to nursery and is mixing with other children his own age and a little older and I went to pick him up one day with my hubby to pick him up from nursery and he was in the outdoor area pushing this little trolley around and it was time to leave my hubby had to prize him away from the trolley and he started to cry as he wanted to take it home with us but he obviously had to leave it there and the nursery assistant told us we could buy one from Argos so off we took him there to see if we could buy him one and luckily they had some in stock and since he was coming to stay with us for the afternoon since my hubby had a day off work, it was something new for him to play with at our home.

This trolley cost us only £9.99 and it is extremely good value for the money as it also includes the play food and they look very cute in the trolley and my grandson races around our garden pushing it lol, it is just the right size for him and it is very light but very sturdy, it takes no room up at all, and when he has finished playing with it, the basket part of the trolley can store the play food, and keep them where he can find them the next time he wants to play with it and also the handle folds down if needed to be smaller when storing.

It is a very brightly coloured very strong plastic toy, it is bright red, yellow and blue and it has nice small wheels and he can push it quite easily over the grass in my garden and it is very good as a walking aid for a smaller child and my grandson tends to hit into things in the garden and home and it does not mark the furniture or door ways as some toys tend to do, with this one it is so light it just could not damage anything or hurt anyone if pushed into the direction of another child or adult.

It is good for both boys or girls and the play food is very cute, there are 30 pieces and some of them being some plastic eggs and some cheese and cartons and much more, and the handle of the trolley folds down so it can be stored much better if you do not have a lot of room in your home.

The holes of the basket are quite big and so children's fingers do not get stuck inside them and so they do not hurt themselves and the plastic is a very good quality and I found it does not have any sharp areas and it is a very durable plastic and can easily be wiped clean with a damp cloth.

My grandson has plays with this toy for hours and he puts the food in and out of it constantly and then pushes it around lol, my hubby took him to the local shop with the trolley and he put some items in it and pushed it home in the street lol.

This is a very good value for money toy and very good quality and I think it is an absolute bargain price for a Christmas or birthday gift for any child or just as a toy to buy and with the play food included it is even a better value toy and for under £10 I think it is super to buy it now and put it away for Christmas or a gift time as I do not think any child would be disappointed at all in my opinion.

Go buy it and put it away for Christmas now and I give it 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review.
