This colourful attractive tea set is perfect to use with a play kitchen or on its own.

It can be used in many ways and help children to learn and develop in the areas of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage)

Physical Development:
By providing water children can pour from the teapot to the cup and gain hand eye co-ordination. Sometimes it doesn't go in the cup but it doesn't matter, they will learn.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development:
As a group activity children will gain social skills and sharing as well as make up their own rules for their play. Often I see children sat around a table chatting with a cup each as this is what they see grown ups do.

Communication and Language Development:
Children will use their imagination to come up with ideas about what they are playing with and share with children and adults around them. I often get brought pretend cups of tea and coffee.

Literacy:
With paper and pens children often make a menu as with a bit of imagination they turn the tea set into part of a cafe. With the children I see (under 4s) they usually just make marks on paper but it means something to them and until you teach them how to write they will need help, but most will write words with support.

Mathematics:
Children can count and share the items between themselves and recognise the shapes on the tea set design. They can learn capacity when pouring water as if they don't understand the concept the cups will over flow as it is more than can fit in a cup.

Expressive Art and Design:
By role playing children will be expressing themselves. They enjoy acting as others and may become a chef, waiter or even a fairy as they are making up their own rules!

Understanding the World:
Children will use what they have seen around them to inspire their role play so if they have been to a cafe they may encourage their friends to join in their play as a cafe or if they have seen people making tea they may replicate this with their tea set as it will make them feel like a grown up.

I see children use this tea set daily and the strong plastic means however many times they accidentally drop or kick them they are still as strong as ever and will last a long time.

A simple toy which can be brought to life with a bit of thought.
