My daughter loves cooking and baking and helping me in the kitchen. She received her own Minnie Mouse kitchen for Christmas this year and has really enjoyed cooking in it. One of the great presents she received for her birthday which is in December is this beautiful Melissa and Douglas felt food cookie decorating kit. So, for the last couple of months my husband and I have been enjoying warm freshly baked cookies from her oven!!
This set is really well made and looks really nice and fancy, so much nicer than the plastic sets of food you can buy. The set comes with a nice plastic baking tray and so we always use this to lay our cookies out on and get them ready for baking. Unfortunately this tray is quite large so it doesn't fit in her kitchen so we put the cookies in and then once they are baked she uses this tray as a serving tray and brings it out to use. The set also comes with a nice plastic spatula which you can use to dish up the cookies with and this is almost good enough to use in a real kitchen.
The "cookies" are made of felt and all look really fancy and delicious. When we first opened the set here were just sheets of felt and you had to pull these cookies out of it. They came out easily and now we just store them in our kitchen. The felt is quite thin and the cookies comes in lots of different fun shapes. There are heart shaped cookies, round ones and ones with a fanned out edge all the way around. What I also like about these cookies is that some have sprinkles on them, others have bits of glitter in the fabric and some have little coloured spots which look like smarties on top of the cookie. There are some vanilla coloured cookies and also some red, pink and chocolate coloured cookies. I like the variety and so does my little girl as she likes to make us something different each time she bakes us cookies.
The set also came with three plastic cookie cutters which I actually use now in my own kitchen to cut out their sandwiches or biscuits I have made because they are that good quality.
This is such a fun set and different from other toys on the market today. Like I've said this was a present but as I made this product proposal I looked on amazon and found it for about £12 which I think is a good price.
It is recommended from 36 months to 7 years which I think is a good age range and a toy we will enjoy for many years.
