Nerf N-Strike Deploy CS-6
Disadvantages: darts get lost!
NERF guns (or blasters, as they are known as) are brightly coloured and could never be mistaken for a real gun, unlike some of the models I have seen on sale in France! They fire darts made of soft spongy foam that are designed not to hurt when you are hit. NERF stands for non-expanding recreational foam. The brand is owned by the giant toy company Hasbro.
There are numerous variants of the NERF blaster available and not all darts will fit the different systems. My sons have the NERF N-strike deploy cs-6 blasters. There are several blasters available within the N-strike range including the raider, recon, longstike and deploy.
What you get for your money.
The N-strike deploy is available from several retailers including Argos, Amazom, Tesco, Asda and Debenhams to name a few. Prices do vary, so it is well worth shopping around. At the moment Amazon appears to be offering the best deal at £18.25
In the box is the blaster, I quick reload clip system (more about this later) ,6 darts ,instruction leaflet and carry strap. The blasters will need 3 AAA batteries to allow the flashlight to work, these are not supplied. The blaster is not recommended for children under 3 and is best suited for those over 6 years old.
How does it work?
The blaster is designed to be used both as a flashlight to seek out your target and then as a blaster to attack! There is a button on the carry handle that converts the flashlight to weapon. The darts are loaded into the clip system and then using the sight, can be fired up to 35 feet. The blaster is designed to fire quickly and can take up to 36 darts at a time; although you will need to purchase extra darts separately.
By children really love these blasters and are hoping to receive addition weapons from the NERF range for Christmas. The blaster appears to be well made and has withstood some very rough treatment without damage. The LED torch is not that bright and is best for indoor play. The blaster is easy to convert from flashlight to weapon with the push of a button.
The darts are light and get lost easily, especially when they are playing outside. On the positive side they don't hurt when they hit! The quick re load clip can take up to 36 darts and is easy to fit onto the blaster. I have read reviews that state that the blaster is prove to jamming. However this has rarely been an issue, although it can be a little tricky to unjam blaster when it does jam! If the darts are placed into the clip carefully then there should be no problem. I would strongly advise that you buy an addition set of darts if you buy one of these weapons, to avoid disappointment when the darts supplied are lost! Only the clip system darts are compatible with this model.
This blaster is quite heavy to carry although it does come with a carry strap. Hasbro recommend that it is suitable for children over 6, but I would suggest it is better suited for children over 8.
Overall this is a fun toy that will (hopefully) get children running around and away from those video games! It is also great fun for adults too!
