Advantages: Sturdy with lots of features.

Disadvantages: A little fiddly to put together.

Father Christmas bought this kitchen for our two-year old. It has a microwave, a telephone, fridge with pretend drinks/ ice dispenser, sink, two-ring hob, oven, cupboard, plate rack, two drawers and a vegetable basket. It came with a frying pan, a casserole dish, two sets of cutlery, two bowls, two plates, two beakers and salt and pepper.

How did Father Christmas get on with building it?
The kitchen came in one large box which was quite heavy. It was well-packaged and all the pieces were correct and undamaged. It took about an hour and lots of tools (unsupplied, so Father Christmas used his own) to put together, but it is very sturdy. Santa's helper had a little trouble attaching the sticker decorations as they were tricky to line up but they could be removed and repositioned as necessary.

What does it do?
Sink: just a pretend tap over a pretend sink.
Microwave: you can put things in it and it has a control panel that you can press to make lots of different nosies.
Telephone: has a keypad that makes different sounds, including a ring tone and an engaged tone.
Fridge: has a single shelf.
Two-ring hob: one is just a sticker, but the other lights up if one of the supplied pans is put on it. When the frying pan is on it, it makes a sizzling noise and when the casserole is on it, it makes a bubbling noise.
Oven: same as the microwave - you can put things in it and it has a control panel that you can press to make lots of different nosies.
The cupboard, drawers, plate rack and vegetable basket provide good storage for play food, crockery and so on.

Since it arrived, this has been the most played with toy we own. It's small enough for our toddler, but big enough for her to still be playing with for the next three or four years. The supplied cutlery and other play items are very robust, and the actual kitchen itself still looks brand new although it's used daily.

The non-garish colours stop it taking over our lounge, and it's definately one of the better big plastic things to have in your house!

Don't forget to have batteries and your own play food ready as this is not supplied and your little one will want to play straight away!

Summary: An excellent play kitchen for the price.
