Warhammer 40,000 (WH40K) is a tabletop wargame using 28mm sized figures in a SciFi setting that Games Workshop has been building up for the last 13 years.

The current box set comes with 2 balanced armies of figures (Space Marines and Dark Eldar), some scenery, dice, rulebook and templates. This allows you to get straight into playing the game as soon as the figures are built (they need Polycement which you must buy seperately).

The game itself is fairly straight forward and can be picked up by anyone over the age of 8 who can read the basic rules. The more advanced rules and the additional rules in the various Army Books that can be purchased as well really need a fair grasp of the basic game to make it worth while using them as too many people rush out and buy their army and the relevant Army Book but don't have a clue as to what the game rules are.
