I first started collecting Warhammer 40,000 during the second edition which was almost five years ago. The first thing that strikes you about Warhammer 40k (Or any of the Games Workshop games) is the depth of detail involved. The history of the game is very detailed and that adds to the atmostphere of playing at home and in a store. The next thing you see is the price. This game is not pocket money, it costs £50 to get the all essential rules (which nerdy types will use against you at all times...) and a small army. Then comes the painting, then finally the playing. The playing of the game is labriously slow and can be very infuriating against cetain opponents.

The main reason I am writing this review is to tell of the all important editions, GW are continually updating rules and introducing new armies which can make you fell a little left out if you do not follow avidly. Basicly you either have to play all the time or not at all.

When the third edition came out alot of 2nd edition players found thier armies defunct, which could happen again when 4th edition comes out so beware: If you spend your money now, five years later you wont be able to sell anything because it will be usless to new players. I myself have learnt this lesson.
