Adidas 3 Stripe Back Pack
by k2705 My husband always use to take a rucksack to work with him, however when we moved into our own house he didn't really have as much need for one, however it would often come in handy for when he had to go on work courses or for exams or even when we take Jayden swimming. However his old rucksack had become so disgusting that ... I had to throw it out and get him a new one, I didn't want to spend a huge amount on one but I also wanted a decent one that would last, after a bit of shopping around I came across the Adidas 3 Stripe Power II Backpack, it was reasonably priced and ideal for what we needed. The Adidas 3 Stripe Power II Backpack looks like a standard backpack, it is made from a tough and strong black fabric and has the Adidas stripes going down the front of the bag in silver with the Adidas logo just at the top. The bag has a rounded top to it with a black loop handle on the top and padded adjustable shoulder straps. The bag is quite plain and simple, however this is exactly what I was looking for as my Husband didn't want anything too bright and fussy. The only colouring is from the silver logos, the silver zips and a small bit of white stitching on the zip tags. What I particularly liked about this backpack was the amount of space in it, the bag doesn't look overly big, but there is a lot of space and pockets in it. There is the main large part of the bag which opens with a large zip going down the sides and across the top of the bag, this allows you to open the bag wide to get everything you want inside. Inside this main section there is a large pocket which goes the whole length of the back of the bag, this is described as being suitable for laptops, although you can use it for whatever you want. There is a second zip pocket on the front of the bag, this also has a large zip allowing you to open the pocket out reasonably wide, inside this pocket there are a further two sections, the larger one fastens with velcro at the top of it and on the front of this pocket there are two smaller pockets with zips, ideal for keeping valuables in. The only other two areas for storage on the bag are a mesh pocket on each side of the bag which are designed for holding drinks bottles, personally we have no use for these but they are there should you require them. The Adidas 3 Stripe Power II Backpack is of a decent size and measures 46cm(H)x30cm(W)x20cm(D) this makes it ideal for a variety of things school/ collage, work, going to the gym or swimming. The bag is very spacious with a variety of pockets for storing all of your valuables and belongings securely. The straps are of a decent length and can be adjust to suit the individual. The straps can be altered simply and quickly by sliding the plastic bits up and down each strap so that you get the correct length you require. I purchased our Adidas 3 Stripe Power II Backpack from Sports Direct, I actually purchased it online and it cost £18.99, personally I thought this was a very reasonable price as in other stores similar products were a lot more expensive. The backpack is strong and hardwearing as well as spacious as I have mentioned so in my opinion it was well worth the money. We have had our Adidas 3 Stripe Power II Backpack for a while now and have been very pleased with it. My Husband has used the bag for work courses as well as exams he has had to take for another course he is doing and the backpack has been extremely handy, the size of the bag and all of the interior pockets has meant he can take all of the stuff he needs with him and keep it all in one place without having to take several bags. Also my Husband bikes to work a lot so when he has had a lot of stuff to take with him he has been able to use this backpack and alter the straps so that he can cycle comfortably. I have also used the backpack myself when we have taken Jayden swimming, the bag allows us to put all of our swim stuff inside again without having to take several bags with us we can take this bag for our stuff and another for Jayden's bits. The bag is reasonably waterproof, although it makes no promises to be, however if you get caught out in the rain for a short amount of time your belongings inside will not get wet. I like the fact that this bag is strong and durable, the strong straps will not break even with reasonably heavy or a lot of items inside and they are slightly padded so that they will not dig into you and allow you to carry the bag comfortably. The bag is very reasonably priced and in my opinion well worth the money, the design makes it suitable for both men and woman. I would definitely recommend this item to anyone whether you want it for work, school, collage or even going up the gym it is an excellent quality and versatile backpack. Read the complete review |

Osprey Talon 22
by Whizz11 My husband and I and the kids have a dog so we often go out for walks in the forest/country and take a picnic with us. We carry our food and bits in a really comfortable backpack, the Osprey Talon 22. The backpack is not amazingly big so this would not be a good one for many days hiking/camping but for an afternoon out this is the ... perfect bag. It's lightweight but still roomy enough to fit everything in. The bag features a big zipped pocket at the front which basically takes up most of the bag. Then, at the top there is another zipped pocket which is mesh lined so it doesn't take up too much space at the top of the bag but I find this the most handy part of the bag. As it's only smallish I put keys and little pocket packs of tissues in it, things like that that I know we will need on our walk and that I will need to get to quickly without having to hunt through the main portion of the bag. At the back of the backpack there is a hydration slot. We don't have one of those water bags that then have a little plastic straw from them so you can sip whilst jogging but it's nice to know that this section is there should you need it. If I did jog or run this would probably be the perfect backpack for that so it's good to know you can attach a hydration unit to it. If you're more like me and like to carry a bottle of water around for hydration there are handy little fabric slot pockets on each side of the backpack that are deep enough to slot a water bottle in and it will stay there without falling out. The overarm straps on the bag are really comfortable. In my opinion they have been designed really well as they lay flat against your chest in a really comfortable position and are slightly padded so even if the bag is quite heavy the straps do not feel really tight or cumbersome. The straps have a plastic buckle each side so you can attach it accross your chest by clipping each side together and also across your waist as well. This means you can either wear your bag the "cool" way, slung over one shoulder or you can wear it properly, over both shoulders and done up around middle and at waist too so the weight is distributed perfectly and you do not end up with an aching back after carrying this bag. The straps are adjustable which is nice so both my husband and I can wear it but to be honest if we're out together I usually make him carry it most of the time!! To quote some specifications from the website, the bag also has ice axe loops and a tow loop. There are two different sizes, S/M: Volume: 20 litres/Weight: 790g. M/L: Volume: 22 litres/Weight: 810g. We have the small which is perfect for us. What I like about the bag is that it comes in various colours too. We have it in a really nice lightish blue colour but you can also get green, black, purple and red. The bag costs in the £75 region and is a backpack I definitely recommend. Vango Sherpa 60+10 Litre
by NotMyToothbrush I do not hike. I merely bought this rucksack to complete my Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE) expedition last year. This part of the award involves hiking for two days across the countryside, in my case the peak district. Considering I had never used a rucksack before, I had no idea what to look for in one and therefore I only went for this ... one after a recommendation from my instructor. At £50 (After my DofE discount) this was a pretty steep investment but it was certainly worth it! One other person in my group also had this rucksack, or one very similar to it. I am a little over 6 feet tall but he is much smaller than me - he really struggled with this rucksack because of this although I found that it was perfectly sized for me. Th only downside to being able to cope with a larger bag was that I therefore had to carry more equipment. Although this was a downside for me, for the majority of you reading this, this would be an advantage! The bag consists of a main 60L compartment, an additional 10L compartment and two side compartments which are best suited for drinks bottles and similar. To get an idea of the size of these. In my main compartment, I had my sleeping bag, cups, plates, cutlery, 2 days worth of food (breakfast, lunch and dinner), a cooker and a variety of other smaller items. In the 10L compartment I mainly stored my clothing for the 2 days. In the side pickets I stored a drinks bottle and snacks for easy access whilst walking. Overall, you can store a lot in this rucksack! The rucksack has three main straps; two shoulder straps and one waist strap. These are very strong and all are padded with thick sponge covered in a supposedly breathable fabric to prevent sweating underneath. The sweating feature didn't really work for me however the strap cushioning did help a lot with preventing major discomfort when carrying around all of my stuff up and down hills. All of the straps can be easily adjusted even when on the move. I found that the waist stray was good enough to hold the rucksack by itself for short periods which was very useful to give my shoulders a break and give them a bit of air every now and again. We had awful weather on the second weekend, so much rain that we were forced to seek refuge in a farmers barn for a few minutes. This was a excellent opportunity to test the waterproofness of the rucksack. Even in torrential rain it appeared to hold up well. I opened up the rucksack whilst in the barn and no rain appeared to have seeped through at all. I did have a rucksack liner too as a secondary barrier but it appears as if that wasn't even needed! With a rucksack like this, my only real issue on my expedition was getting lost! Read the complete review |
