Whilst on our holiday in Newquay last year, we decided to invest in a rucksack, although we had our beach bag, my other half used to moan about carrying this as it was not manly enough for him. Although there were lots of choices, the prices seemed a little steep so we purchased this from the sports shop.
The RRP of the bag is just under £20 and is available from most sports or surfing shops. I think we paid about £25 but I assume that was more to do with location than anything else.
The bag is navy blue in colour with the word Animal across the bottom which is in a neon blue colour and it is slightly raised from the bag, the Animal logo is to the top of the bag and again is in a nice bright neon blue colour. When we purchased, this was the only colour version available.
I actually really liked the bag, although it is advertised as a women's rucksack, I found the colouring made it look quite unisex which meant that both me and my other half would carry it without moaning. The bag has two fully adjustable straps on the back and both straps are padded to ensure it is quite comfortable when wearing. As you can imagine, with a toddler, there used to be quite a lot of items we had to take out with us, the bag was always full to the brim yet it was never uncomfortable to carry on my back. The bag also has a grab handle at the top offering an alternative way of carrying should you not want to wear it on you back. I found the bag was just the right size for what we needed too, it is stated to be a 20 litre bag and it measures 31W x 41.4H x 15D cm.
There are quite a few little compartments on the bag, the main one can be opened and closed by two zips, these run about three quarters of the way down each side of the bags. The zips feel quite well made and do not feel like it I pull too hard, they will break (as some cheaper versions have in the past). On the front of the bag there is also another smaller raised pocket, this can again be opened with a zip which is slightly concealed giving that extra protection from wannabe thieves. Inside the bag, there is a clear plastic pocket (which is advertised as being an ID pocket) and also a smaller zipped pocket, I found this quite handy for putting my keys and loose change in. Towards the base of the bag, there is also a key clip so you can clip your keys on, I did not feel too comfortable doing this so always ensured my keys were in the main compartment in the bag.
It was taken onto the beach with us numerous times yet still looks like new, the sand has not discoloured the base, nor made effected the zip in anyway. We quite often use this one now when we go to our caravan at the weekends or when we all go swimming at the weekends and it will definitely be coming back to Newquay with us this year. The stitching still looks like new and shows no signs of splitting (and we have perhaps overloaded the bag!)
Overall, I would recommend this bag, reasonable priced, well made, lots of uses and most of all, easy to carry - 5 out of 5 stars from me.
