Last year my friends and I bought tickets to a concert in Hyde Park. London is quite far away from us so we decided to stay overnight in a hotel, we also decided on taking the train instead of driving. The concert tickets, hotel and train had cost me quite a lot and I didnt want to cut into my spending money too much but I needed a backpack to take with me. Whilst looking on Amazon I noticed this Borderline backpack, Initially I felt it was rather plain looking but I figured I didn't really need anything too fancy, it just had to be cheap and fit for purpose. I ended up purchasing it simply because it was of a decent size and priced at just £8.98 with free delivery.
I had never heard of the brand Borderline before and since it was quite cheap I was a little apprehensive about the bag, I was a bit worried that it would be of a poor quality and just fall to bits but I was pleasantly surprised once it arrived. I have used the bag countless times over the past six months and overall I have been pretty happy with it.
The bag is black and made from tough polyester material. It has "Borderline" and "Venturepak 1000" embroided on the front in white. The main compartment is double zipped, it is deep and roomy. I find it ideal for an overnight bag, it is the perfect size for a change of clothes with plenty of room for some general odds and ends. Both sides of the main compartment have side compressed clips, which gives a little added securety.
Both sides have mesh pockets which is ideal for storing bottles of water, which are easy to reach when needed.
There are three front zipped compartments on the front. The main one is of a nice size but fairly flat, I tend to use it for magazines, folded newpaper or a few puzzle books. The other two compartments are quiet small. If I am honest I have never really used these front pockets for anything too important or expensive as I feel they were a little unsecure and could be easily undone without my knowledge when the bag is on my back. All the zips are of a brilliant quality and I have never had any problems opening and closing the compartments.
I would have liked a small zipped pocket inside the main compartment as a safe place to keep valubles items such as purse, keys etc. I feel that the front pockets are a little unsecure for such things, so I always just end up putting them in the main compartment, it is a bit of a hassle having to root around for these things when I needed them.
The bag feels really comfortable on my back. The straps are thick and nicely padded, they can be adjusted to get the perfect fit. I have never experienced any problems with the straps slipping off my shoulders and they have always remained in place during use.
On top of the bag is a loop which is great for hanging the bag up when not in use.
I do tend to use this as an overnight bag but I think it would also be great as a general sports bag or for students. I feel the bag was a brilliant buy and have been really surprised at the quality and durability considering the price. It has been used a fair bit over the past six months and it is still in a brilliant condition. Recently it was looking a little grubby so I put it in the washing machine and it came out looking clean and like new.
I do have a few niggles with the bag ( eg no safe place for valuables), but on the whole I have been pretty happy with it especially given the price I paid for it. I highly recommend it to those looking for a cheap but high quality backpack.
According to Amazon it has a 23 Litre depth. Height 46cm, Length 36cm, Width 14cm. It is also cabin approved.
