A must have for the vtech innotab

We bought my four year old daughter a vtech 2 innotab for Christmas, months later it is still one of her favourite most played with toys. My daughter takes her Vtech 2 out with her regularly and I have found it to be invaluable for long journeys, traffic jams and waiting rooms. I quickly realised that she needed a bag to keep it in that would not only protect it but would hold some of the game cartridges too. I did a little research and read some reviews before deciding on the official Vtech Innotab backpack. I purchased it from Amazon but I forget exactly how much I paid for it, it is currently selling at around £16.00. The backpack is available in two colours, blue & pink, my daughter chose the latter.

The backpack is hard and sturdy, it is covered in bright pink soft fabric with a 3D "V" on the front along with some flowers and the Vtech logo. There is a double zip which goes around the sides and top of the bag, my daughter finds this really easy to use by herself and we have not experienced the zip getting stuck or jammed. There is a strong carry handle to the top of the bag and two straps on the back which are easily adjusted. The straps are soft and nicely padded, they fit well on my daughter and she finds it comfortable to wear. Even with the vtech 2 inside, the bag feels lightweight and my daughter has had no problems carrying it on her back or taking it on and off by herself.

Once unzipped the backpack does not open fully which I initially found rather strange, however my daughter finds it easy enough to access the contents so this isn't such a a big deal. Inside is a large netted pocket for the vtech itself and at the other side another six smaller netted compartments for the game cartridges. Getting the vtech tablet in and out of its pocket is extremely easy and my daughter has no problems doing this herself, the pocket is slightly elasticated at the top which keeps it safely in place. We have found the cartridge pockets to be a little too snug and sometimes it can be a bit of a pain getting the cartridges in and out, I have discovered that it is easier to put the cartridges in upside down and try to encourage my daughter to do this too.

My daughter has dropped the bag a number of times and each time the tablet inside has remained well protected by the backpack. It has also been worn it light rain and I was pleased to discover the contents remained dry, although I personally wouldn't take the chance of using during a really bad down pour. Occasionally the backpack has become a little mucky usually a quick wipe over with a damp cloth and it comes up nice and clean, however there are a few marks on it which I have been unable to remove, but I guess this is to be expected with this type of product.

As mentioned earlier the backpack holds six cartridges (seven if you keep one in the actual vtech games slot as well), I would have preferred it to have accommodated a few more as my daughter has quite a few games now, usually this is not a huge problem but when we go away for a few days I always end up having to carry extra cartridges in my bag. It is also worth noting that there is no space to keep spare batteries or an ac mains adaptor, personally I don't really like the idea of my daughter carrying these items around anyways, so again they tend to end up in my bag or a suitcase.

If you child has a Vtech 2 innotab then I would certainly recommend this official Vtech backpack, I have found it to be of an excellent quality and I can see it lasting for quite sometime.
