“ Brand: Dualit / Small kitchen electro type: Sandwich Makers „
I have been after a new toaster for some time; I have owned many toasters over the years, ranging from cheap ones to ones costing around £70. The thing I seemed to always find was that the bread would never fit in so would toast it but the top bit would always be uncooked! Also the other issue was you could never fit thick bread in these toasters.
So I decided to purchase a new toaster, I had spoken to a friend who informed me that her toaster at work did the best toast ever, now this was a bold statement and so I felt the need to look into this toaster. I found it at John Lewis and purchased it straight away, the price was £175, but I thought for that price it has to deliver!
I've just had a look on John Lewis website and it is now £149 with a free 5 year guarantee and also it includes a sandwich cage which I will also review at the end.
So... what's in the box, well it's the toaster and that's pretty much it!
Now this toaster comes in a variety of colours depending on what your colour scheme is, I chose silver as it's a neutral colour, but you can have red, cream and black. It does feel well built.
My Thoughts on this toaster:
First things first, when you get it out of the box, I read the instructions which say you have to put the toaster on 2 times before putting any bread in it.
The settings on this toaster are really easy to use, there are two black dials. One lets you choose if you just want one piece of toast, the next one is if you want to select two slices of toast and the third is if you wish to cook a bagel or something. The dial to the left of this is for how many minutes you wish, I found the optimum is 2 mins and does perfect toast every time.
What's really neat about this toaster is the leaver at the bottom of the toaster which you manually push down to get the bread out, this means that if you wanted to, you could check on your toast and take it out easily if you feel it is getting too well done!
Once thing to note is that fresh bread takes less time than older bread.
Cant really fault this toaster, it seemed expensive when I purchased it, but when I think of all the half done, or really burnt bread I have wasted over the years this is truly value for money! There are other toasters out there, but the difference with Dualit is that their products are built to last and all the parts are available for this toaster if after the 5 year guarantee wears off you can still replace.
Sandwich toasting cage. I actually purchased this separately, but like I said at the start of the review you can now get this free. Nice bit of kit, simple to use, and makes a cheese toasty very easily, nice little bonus to get it included in the purchase.
I purchased star trek:voyager elite force as soon as it came out and the first thing i noticed was the speed it took nearly 2 minutes to load and all of the setting were wrong so i had to change them wich took a considerable time after that when i fianlly got in the game i noticed it was excellent the borg looked like they should and the main characters from the show where in it but i had yet anouther wait when i changed levels. overall this is a great game if you have a very fast processor and a decent graphics card like the geoforce.
