Aldi Soupreme Chunky Minted Hot Pot Soup

After trying the Chunky Spicy Tomato and Mixed Bean soup from this same variety and being impressed, I nipped in store today and grabbed a few more different tins and ate the Chunky Minted Hot Pot Soup for my tea this evening.

The soup cost 59p for a 400g tin, which has a ring pull opening. Half of the 400g tin will be 169 calories, so 338 calories for the whole tin.

I heated my soup in the microwave for three and a half minutes. This soup can also be heated on the hob in a saucepan.

I have to say that on opening this tin I was quite excited, the product description sounded gorgeous and the smell was wonderful, just like a Sunday dinner!! There are nice chunky bits of carrots and potato and mutton (not dressed as lamb- just mutton!) and garden peas in a minty gravy type soup mixture. Sadly I was very disappointed with the overall flavour. The overwhelming smell of mint did not carry through to the flavour, It was actually fairly bland. I was tempted to add some mint sauce to this soup to enhance the flavour and I think it would have probably helped a lot (... but, I did not have any!).

Sadly this soup was not as good as the spicy tomato and mixed bean I had previously tried.
