Tomato Ketchup is an essential part of alot of meals, especially those meals that involve chips. The lovely taste of tomato perfectly compliments a lot of tastes and can add flavour to a lot of otherwise bland meals. Previously I always went for the leading brand Heinz as i thought its tastes could not be beaten despite the extra cost associated with it. After Heinz I thought i would try asdas own brand, the step above the smart price brand, I thought this tasted good and wondered if I could make any more saving by switching to the smart price version.

The first this is the packaging, I do like the look of the glass bottle, I think it would give a nice classic finish to this classic sauce. However the one bad thing about this is that you can squeeze the last remaining sauce out as easily. The other bad thing about the smart price packaging is it isnt the most attractive to bring out the cupboard when you have guests.

The taste is really good, surprisingly good. It does not taste as strong or tomatoey as Heinz perhaps does but it still has the classic tomato sauce tang that tomato sauce requires. I do think you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the sauces with out the bottle infront of you. As has been said before in many reviews this sauce is quite runny. I do not like this as you can often get to much sauce on your plate and often end up wasting some of the sauce.

The main selling point of this sauce is the price, it cost around 37 pence for a large bottle. This price can simply not be beaten and is the main reason why many choose this sauce. I think you might as well try this sauce, it wont cost you much to try and you might make a saving in the long run.
