“ Brand: Asda / Type: American mustard „
I have a terrible craving for McDonalds Cheeseburgers, but have recently realised that the actual taste I crave is the mustard in them which mixes with ketchup. After trying Asdas American Hot Dog Mustard, I can tell you that is tastes just like the cheeseburger mustard from McDonalds ...... and I love it !!!
Both me and my flatmate love burger in buns and tinned hot dogs as a naughty late evening treat and so when I was in Asda recently and spotted squeezy mustard decided to get one in for us to try. I love mustard but sometimes find English mustard a bit too hot my tastes buds and I knew when buying this (as I've had it before) that it is slightly milder in flavour and being easy to squeeze I couldn't wait for us to give it a go.
This only comes in one size to the best of my knowledge and that size is a yellow plastic bottle that holds 454g of the mustard and to the top of it, it has a push up and down lid that reveals a small hole. On the front of the bottle there is a label on there and on that there is a photogrpah of a hot dog sausage and we are told that it is Asda Squeezy American Mustard and the size is stated (as I've listed already). On the back of the bottle other information given includes ingredients and allergy adivce, there is a full nutritional chart listed and contact details for Asda are given. Nice enough informative packaging this is and a nice squeezy, high quality looking and feeling bottle it is too.
The Mustard Itself:
Always shake the bottle before using it or you get a thin, tranparent layer of water shooting out (make sure you shove the lid down first of course!) this is a really easy to squeeze bright yellow mustard with a smell of vinegar and spices to it.
This is a rather mild but still tangy mustard made from distilled vinegar, mustard seeds and blended with salt, sugar, turmeric and paprika as well as a few other spices which we are not told on the bottle what they are so they must be top secret!
You can really taste the vinegar within this blended really well with the mustard seeds and the spices used give it an interesting twist. I like the fact this is naturally but lightly sweetened and that it is well seasoned too.
I also like the consitency of this cos although it is squeezable it isn't runny and/or greasy and holds very well indeed on warm/wet food and is smooth and reasonably thick.
The taste of this is as I stated earlier within this review a mild mustard one, what makes it American I'm not too sure if I'm honest but this is really a tasty, tangy and easy to use mustard and we all love it here!
