      Its simply ok

Both me and my bestmate/flatmate love a good curry. I tend to make them up using various cooking sauces rather often and because of that I am constantly on the look out for new and interesting sauces to try out so we don't get bored.

      The Packaging:

315g of the sauce comes in a see-through glass jar with a black twist on/off lid to the top of it and on a turquoise coloured label around the middle of the jar, on the front of it we are told that it is Asda 'Chosen By You' Green Thai Style Cooking Sauce and there is a photograph of a Thai green curry by the looks of it in there to. Other informaiton on the back of the jar includes ingredients, allergy advice and nutritional information being given as well as as the size of the jar and how to use it and contact details for Asda are given. Nice enough informative jar this is, easy to open etc.

      The Sauce Itself:

The sauce is reasonably thick though does pour out of the jar easy enough. With a greenish colour to it and a smooth texture this has an odd smell of lemongrass and garlic to it really.

To use this sauce is simple you just fry off whatever meat/fish and or vegetables you want to eat until lightly browned and then stir in the sauce and let the whole lot simmer on the hob for about 20 minutes. In this time the sauce coats the ingredients well (I simply used big chunks of chicken in this as a quick, simple meal) and there is lots of sauce and this jar is meant to provide two servings which I think it does and very generously so.

Taste wise well its mild really. Slightly creamy with a hint of coconut to it I can see plenty of pieces of chopped coriander in the sauce but really mainly it tastes of lemon grass as a flavouring along with lime and a hint of hotness coming through from chillis though it is rather mild you sometimes get just a hint of hotness.

Its a tangy and naturally sweet sauce but for me and my tastebuds didn't do alot for me. Being a weird green colour on my plate and tasting like some sort of fruit sauce didn't work and although I can't qibble at the quality of it I simply can't rave about it either sadly.

Nutritional Information Per 100g (The Important Bits!):

      Energy: 111Kcal
      Fat: 7.5g
      of which saturates: 4.9g

Only available in Asda stores costing about 88p a jar.

      Disadvantages

A great meal idea for those who like trying new tastes but might not have the time to make them!

We love curries and normally I make mine from scratch, but with my husbands working hours sometimes its so much easier to grab a jar of pre mixed sauce especially when its something liek Thai Green Curry which would cost a lot to make from scratch and would be complicated, but this is just £1 for a 315g jar.

I like to make home made meals rather than eating frozen ready meals and boxed meals, and although this sauce is pre mixed I like it because you can add your own bits to it if you like, and you can use whatever meat you like.

I recommend either prawns, fish or chicken with this particular jar of sauce which is a mix of coconut, coriander, lemon grass and lime leaves. I didn't think I'd like it to be honest when my husband picked it up, but I like to try things like this so I know what I like and what I don't like. And when I first tried it I was pleasently surprised.

One thing I will say though, on the front of the sauce mix, it says this is of medium heat, its not, and as far as I was aware it had barely any spice, but was still scrummy.

Its extremelly simple to make, basically cook your chicken or fish in a shallow pan with a small amount of cooking oil until browned or cooked through. Add this sauce and simmer gently for 20 minutes and then serve with rice, pasta, potatoes or whatever else you feel like!

The jar contains 125kcal and serves 2-4 so is quite nutritional, and if your using a nice healthy lean cut of meat or fish with the sauce then you are getting quite a nice healthy meal!

The sauce tastes very nice, and yes it would taste nicer using fresh ingredients I am not going to lie, but for a nice quick meal, with new tatses, and something relitively cheap, its a great idea for a quick meal for those who don't have time to make these meals from scratch but don't want to be eating boring meals!!

I wont be bothering to give this a second try!

We like a nice simple curry every so often but have got rather bored of the usual sauces you can buy and so when we last visited Asda we went for this small jar of Thai Green Curry Sauce. At just 97p it was a bargain you must agree!

I have never had Thai Green Curry unless it is from a ready meal not that I eat them very often. I have always enjoyed the taste of the ready meals so thought this could only be better but it wasn't!

It is described as A green Thai curry sauce flavoured with coconut, coriander, lemongrass and lime leaves. And comes in a 315g jar which is ideal for two people rather than the ridiculously large jars where we waste some of it.

This had a strange powdery texture and the taste was over powered by lemongrass it really wasn't nice at all. It was slightly hotter than I was expecting also but not so much that I couldn't cope with that even though I hate hot curries.

My other half enjoyed his but I couldn't eat mine, I at the chicken and left the sauce.
