      Advantages

      Disadvantages

An original flavour worth keeping in your store cupboard.

This is a very hearty tasting soup and definitely one for those of you who like chunky soups but also like a bit of spice thrown in too. The spice isn't too much but just enough to leave a little kick on your tastebuds and reminiscent of a mild curry flavour.

In comes in at a very respectable 190 calories per whole tin, is suitable for both vegetarians and vegans but is not gluten free.

This one is filling so if it's a tin for just one person then no need in my opinion for dipping bread to be added to the meal.

As you can see there are amongst other ingredients a good selection of beans as well as brown lentils.

      Its ingredients are:

Water, Carrots, Potatoes, Onions, Parsnips, Brown Lentils (4.5% Cooked), Haricot Beans, Green Beans, Wheatflour, Concentrated Tomato Paste, Red Lentils, Cornflour, Sea Salt, Yeast Extract, Coriander, Ginger, Cumin, Black Pepper, Cinnamon. Vegetables 45%.

      Other nutritional information:

      Protein 1.9%
      Fat 0.3%
      Salt 0.7g per whole tin

All my own research regarding healthy eating tells me that beans and pulses are very nutritious and according to many studies can reduce the statistical probability over a large sample of people of developing certain medical conditions in later life.

I recommend this soup as one of Baxters very best.

      It'll warm your cockles

Autumn Vegetable with Mild Spices Soup.
      ************************************************

This soup is delicious on cold days or wintry nights, especially when working night shifts as I do.

      The Can:
      ***********
The can is a 415g size and Costs 82p, which is a bit dear for soup but it's worth it. It comes with an easy to open ring pull top and the label on the outside gives you lots of info:-
That it is a low fat soup,
The Blue Circle on the label confirming that there is less than 1% fat.
That it is suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans.
And that the soup is "A really simple and tasty recipe", "A Satisfying lunch when you're trying to maintain a healthy balanced diet" and "this low-fat soup combines chopped vegetables & chicken in a tasty vegetable chicken stock"
The picture set affront of the tin displaying a bowl of the delish steaming soup with some out of focus vegetables in the background and a chunk of crusty bread.

      The Look:
      *************
Once opened the soup inside looks thick and creamy. There is a clear smell of freshness that surprised me. Yet there was no detectable sniff of the spices.
Poring out the soup into the pan you can begin to see how thick this soup really is.

      Heating Instructions:
      *******************************

DON'T be lazy and microwave the soup, it is a fact microwaving ruins the goodness in the vegetables. Never mind arguing, it does, end of.
Cook slowly in the pan for 5-10 minutes. NEVER let soup boil it might separate out and you WILL spoil the taste completely.
Get your crusty bread ready whilst you're waiting. Never been a big fan of croutons.

      The Smell:
      ***************
The aroma is lovely; you begin to smell the vegetables and can barely detect a whiff of the spices.

      The Taste:
      **************
The thick broth contains a mixture of vegetables, lentils and mild spices which really does create a 'seasonal classic'. The soup is surprisingly filling and has a very delicate kick when the spices hit your taste buds.
Really tasty and has a nice kick to it.

      Summary:
      **********
Not always been a soup fan but this one really is tasty and healthy.
