“ Brand: Baxter's / Soups „
There is one cupboard in my kitchen that is full to the brim of cans. Tuna, tomatoes, beans, sweetcorn, soups and more. When it comes the the end of the week (especially as I begin to run low on funds nearing payday) and I'm trying to stretch what's in the kitchen to avoid spending money at the shops this cupboard is where I try to make a meal out of. Most of the time it is quite hard to even see what's in there! Most of the time I end up raiding the freezer before searching the long-lasting food cupboard.
One thing always available in there is plain tomato soup. To be honest I have never been overly bothered by brand when it came to restocking and just when with the first one I came across. I like another soup in the Baxters range and thus more recently bought the cream of tomato soup.
On a crazy night last week we got home relatively late and I had no plan or anything prepared for dinner so I quickly heated up a tin of the cream of tomato for my son so that he'd be able to eat and get into bed on time. I was a bit suprised when he brought his bowl in saying he was done and there was still some in there. Normally he laps up tomato soup. He told me it wasn't the same as last time. I kind of shrugged it off thinking he was just being weird (as usual!). I mentioned it in passing to my other half latter in the evening and he said the same thing happened the last time we had Baxters cream of tomato.
In my opinion almost all tomato soups taste the same. I have today had the other tin of Baxters and it was fine. A creamy, smooth and rich tasting tomato soup and as I'm trying not to gain any weight (be nice if some shed, but I we won't go there) it's nice to know that each tin contains less than 3% fat.
Product contains wheat, milk, and gluten
Suitable for vegetarians
Price Range: £0.64 -- £1.47 (based on tins size 415g)
I've found tomato soup in general a great thing to give the kids when you're lacking in time to do everything that needs doing. Only takes a couple minutes to heat up. Serve with dipping bread. Add some cheese whilst heating up the soup for a quick change to the ordinary.
Although my alien child seems to have a problem with Baxters cream of tomato I don't think there is anything wrong with it.
If you plan on trying the Baxters range of soups there are two that come to mind which are superb:
Deli Inspired Soup Roast Tomato & Parmesan with Smoked Garlic and the Broccoli, Stilton and Bacon. I have never been a fan of stilton but I could eat this soup by the bucket full!
Go on ... get yourself a soup!
