I love prawn cocktail and have tried loads of different seafood sauces to mix in with the prawns, the best I've found is Baxters Seafood Sauce because it goes sooooo nice with the king prawns I always use.
It's a thick sauce that's a lovely salmon colour, it's got quite a strong flavour so you don't need to use too much. That shows how good it is because when I've used other sauces I've had to use enough to actually mix the prawns into, but with this Baxters sauce I just put a dollop on top of the prawns and that allowed just enough sauce per prawn.
The flavour is mega tangy, it's delish and made the prawns taste dead yummy. It's a brill mixture of tanginess and sweet flavours, the tomato flavour comes through but in more of a ketchup kinda way than fresh tomatoes. I'd say the vinegar is perfect in this seafood sauce and they've got all the different flavours together very well.
I can't find anything bad to say about this seafood sauce. You can tell from the taste and texture that it's a high quality sauce and when I have it on king prawns it brings the flavour out wicked but doesn't overwhelm the prawn.
A jar doesn't last very long when I'm around, it's so yummy that sometimes I'll have a dip with cod or on a fishfinger sandwich. You know what, sometimes I even dip the spoon in and eat it on it's own just to get the tang of it on my tastebuds.
I'm not sure of the price of this sauce but I know it's one of the dearest. All Baxters food is good but this is restaurant quality in my opinion, well pub restaurant anyway! lol
