A nice flavoured sauce with a difference!

The other day I dug out a huge Christmas pudding, left over of course from Christmas that I had totally and utterly forgot all about cos for my main Christmas meal I ended up going to my parents house sort of last minute...so I no longer needed the pud and had tucked it away for safe keeping! I wanted to share it as a sweet treat with my bestmate/flatmate one night and when I spotted this in Asda I decided that it sounded right up our street!

The packaging is simply a red, blue and yellow coloured, smallish cardboard box and on the front of it there is a photograph of a mince pie covered in the rum sauce and we are told that it is Birds Rum Sauce Flavour 'You make it special...' and that it contains real rum and is ready to serve and there is a nutritional chart shown. Other information listed on the other sides of the box includes ingredients, allergy advice, a full nutritional chart and contact details for Birds are given.

The Rum Sauce is reasonably thick but pourable and actually smells naturally of rum. You can pour it onto desserts or puddings or whatever cold if you want to or you can heat it in a saucepan for a couple of minutes or in a microwave for about 3 minutes and either way (hot or cold) it doesn't go thick but keeps its lovely sweet rum smell to it and it is very smooth and glossy.

This is made from skimmed milk and buttermilk so does have a tangy and creamy taste to it. This has a lovely rich and real flavour of rum to it and for a stronger rum flavour on the box we are advised to add a little more rum!

This is not a runny sauce and it is of a decent consistency, high in flavours (as it is in calories lol) but for me is a little too much on the sweet side though a couple of spoons on this on fruity based cakes and puddings is rather nice..... its just a matter of how sweet you like your sauces!

      Nutritional Information Per 100g Serving:

      Calories: 146
      Sugars: 19.0g
      Fat: 2.2g
      Saturates: 1.3g
      Salt: 0.2g

This sauce at full price costs about 89p a box though I only recently bought mine the other day in fact for 49p a box in Asda.
