Advantages: Everything, its so versatile too!
Disadvantages: Only mild in cheese flavouring
I am a huge fan of cheese sauce and I usually buy Asda's own cheese sauce in sachets mainly to pop over cauliflower and pasta and things like that however I spotted this on offer in my local Tesco store and it only cost a pound so I simply had to try it!
This comes in a blue and yellow cardboard cylinder shaped tub with a blue plastic pop on/off lid. On the front of it we are told that it is Ahh! Bisto Cheese Sauce, that this size I have makes up 23 servings and there is an at a glance nutritional chart shown then on the back of the tub other information given includes being told a bit about the product and how to make up the cheese sauce, the ingredients are given as is a full nutritional chart, the weight is stated which in this case is 200g and contact details for the manufacturer are given. Nice, informative tub this is.
You get lots and lots of largish, cream coloured granules and all you do with those is take 4-6 dessert spoons of the granules and mix it with 250ml of boiling water. If you want it to be thicker sauce add more granules, less for a thinnner sauce and if you like it thicker add boiling milk to it instead! Its so simply to make this up believe me!
The sauce is lovely and this does offer 23 servings of it for a mere pound, its a great store cupboard product this one. The sauce tastes mildly cheesy, slightly seasoned and rather creamy. Its a moist sauce, I make this up rather thick and pop it on pasta and add grated cheese to it and bake it in the oven and I do love my cauliflower cheese and baked brocolli made with this as when it gets hot it doesn't go all runny and tasteless.
At only 41 calories and with only 1.6g of saturated fat per 50ml serving this also isn't bad on the old hips and really does make food alot more interesting!
Available in all good supermarkets.
