      great family meal

This is a ready made sauce made by the well known company Bisto. I always buy their gravy granules and when I saw this sauce in te supermarket I thought I would try it out. They do a few varietes but the one I chose was Rich Beef and Ale.

It is packaged in a see through glass jar which is nice because you can see the sauce before you buy. It has a very picture of a beef casserole on the front and of course the aah Bisto label. It contains 500ml of the sauce.

This is described as a casserole sauce for beef with onions, mushrooms and ale. On the label it says it is made with real stock which sounded very traditional.

To make the casserole is very easy. Basically you fry your beef cubes to seal them in a frying pan. You then transfer to a casserole dish, pour over the sauce and put into the oven. It takes about an hour and a half to cook.

The sauce made the casserole a very tasty dish. It made a very rich flavour and was a very nice deep brown colour. You could taste the Ale but it was only very subtle. The sauce said it had onions and mushrooms which you could taste but there were not very large chunks of them which was a bit of a downside. However you could add your own if you chose. I served mine with mashed potatoes which complimented the sauce nicely.

The sauce is very convenient and made a nice quick tasty meal.

The other flavours that are available are Country vegetable chicken and Cumberland sausage.

The sauce is enough to make a casserole for 4 people.

It costs £1.60 from the supermarket.

Not what I expected!! ... in a bad way!

        Ahhhhh Bisto!

I recently came across this product upon travelling up and down countless numbers of isles on my weekly shop!

The sauce itself is designed to be ate with beef, this, you need to add yourself.

The sauce comes within a 500g glass jar which has a screw on lid. It is of the variety that have the poppy lid if it has already been opened therefore you know what you are purchasing is safe.

Ahh Bisto Rich Beef and Ale Cooking sauce is made with real stock and you can add more ingredients if you wish i.e onions and mushrooms.

The sauce is quite thin in texture and has very small bits inside, I am assuming is the added ingredients to enhance the flavour.

The sauce has a sweet taste, unlike what I expected of this sauce. I expected a much richer taste and a thicker texture.

The sauce has a huge list of ingredients and a few E numbers also. the main ingredients are beef stock from concentrate, onions, mushrooms and brown ale.

This sauce can be purchased from most supermarkets, normally it costs around £1.50

The sauce is not suitable for those who have an allergy such as peanuts, nuts or sesame.

This is not my favourite sauce and is average. You could probably make a cheaper sauce yourself which tastes better.
