Advantages: Cheap. Tasty. Easy to use.
Disadvantages: None.
I have used Colemans Sausage Casserole mix many many times and have continued to use it when making meals for my family. The packet cost me £0.79 from Tesco, which I feel is a really good price as it does completely transform a meal and make what would be sausages and mash into something much more memorable. The packet contains 40g of dried powder which comes in a foil backed package which keeps it fresh. Because it is dried it has a really long shelf life and so it can sit in the cupboard for a long time until you're ready to use it.
I guess everyone uses it slightly differently - and it does give you directions on the back as to how to use it. I don't measure out my ingredients but basically just throw it all in together, depending on what I have in the fridge. However, typically I fry the sausages with some onion, peppers and mushrooms and then add this to a casserole dish. Once I have done this I add some spinach and then I mix together the packet with about 600mls and then pour this into the casserole dish with some chives and crushed garlic. It then goes in the oven for about 45 minutes.
I find the sauce to be rich and warming - and it has a tangy tomatoey taste which complements the sausages perfectly. It makes a nice sauce to dip mashed potato into as well as it is thick and so coats anything dipped into it well. I just really enjoy it.
Summary: Recommended.
