I got this a couple of weeks ago, as it was on offer. The offer was any 2 colmans sauces (250ml jars) for £1.50. This usually retails at about 90p so I thought I would take advantage of the offer.
I think 90p is still pretty reasonable, as it is a good sized jar and will last a while. We don't eat tartar sauce too often in our house so it should last us a good few months.
I know that Colmans is a good brand, but I do usually go for cheaper ones just because of cost, but I think after having this I will stick to this brand.
The quality of this sauce is brilliant. However It's the texture that I found the most intriguing. Just like the horseradish that I purchased this sauce is almost mousse like in texture, it's so soft and light, and when you eat it all you get is flavour and no stodginess, like with other sauces.
The taste of this is really good. You can definitely taste the gherkins, and there are very small chunks in there too. It is very creamy and light but has a great twang to it, and we had it with some white fish in breadcrumbs and it was a great accompaniment.
I didn't look at the calories and fat content because I don't really care when it comes to sauces, as I only have a small amount. I don't think this would make much difference to a meal unless you had huge amounts of it.
I think sainsburys own tartar sauce is actually the same price as this, but I will definitely be buying this one again.
