... the individual or the family, and don't cater for both. But Dolmio sauces cover all bases. The flavour I had this lunchtime was 'Sun-ripened Tomato and Basil' and is very simply made with few ingredients. 170g cost under £1, and that was from the Co-op so you could probably find it cheaper elsewhere. All I had to do was cut open the top corner and stick in the microwave for 45 seconds, so I cooked my pasta and veg and then stuck the sauce in at the last moment. To be honest I should have just been more organised ...more

Dolmio Sauces: Dolmio Pasta Bake (353 words)

Rating:

I like Dolmio sauces now and again but have tried to branch away from the usual, and in my opinion, boring tomato sauce and pasta option so when I saw the Dolmio Roasted Mediterranean vegetables Pasta Bar jar in my local Sainsburys I decided to give it a go. It was only £1.49 a jar so quick an inexpensive dinner in my opinion. The taste and flavours itself sounded really lovely and different. Apparently according to the jar one serving equals 1/5 of your daily intake of fruit and vegetables recommended by nutritionists. This is an excellent way to make sure that you are getting your five a day and in my opinion quite an easy one. Also if it fools my family ...  Read the complete review

Creamy Carbonara (504 words)

I love pasta, actually I just had one tonight and I quite enjoy it. It's Dolmio Express creamy carbonara pasta sauce. I usually have that in my kitchen cupboard. It's very easy to prepare if you fancy a quick ready made pasta. Dolmio offered a variety of sauces to choose from but this creamy carbonara sauce is my favourite among them. Carbonara is a classic italian white sauce with cream, ham and cheese. Dolmio's sauce includes sweet cream, ham, tangy cheese and aromatic garlic to create quality taste. The sauce is quite thickish but free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives. Well, as what they say that good food has just become much quiker, Definitely .  Read the complete review

Dolmio Sauces: Lots of lovely sauces! (806 words)
by - written on 30/03/09 (Very useful, 200 readings)

In this review i am reviewing the Dolmio express sauces in pouches. The flavours that they have in these are: - Creamy Carbonara - Creamy mushroom - Spicy Italian chilli - sun-ripened tomatoes and basil - Minced beef bolognese - Minced beef bolognese with extra mushroom - minced beef bolognese with extra onion and garlic All of these sauces can be bought at most supermarkets including Asda, Tesco's and Sainsbury's. They cost about £1.15 per sauce. They are serving for 1 person, although i do eat them on my own my and my sister sometimes share one which still goes a long way. They all are free of artificial colours, ...  Read the complete review

Whensa my dolmio day! NEVER! (366 words)

Rating:

In my opinion Dolmio sauces are such a waste of money, and this fact was reinforced to me, when my better half purchased a jar of this and then proceeded to cook it, and fed me it almost unknowingly. I didn't even realize it was a (semi) instant sauce, other than noticing it was too sweet. When you consider that the basic Italian pasta sauce (which Dolmio is) is just created by cooking out finely diced onion, some crushed garlic until its all soft (but not burnt), and a Passata mixed with a few dried herbs. (Passata is just sieved tomatoes, minus skin an seeds) it becomes apparant what a waste of cash it is. So where am I going with ...  Read the complete review

Dolmio Sauces: the best sauces I've ever used (439 words)
by - written on 03/10/08 (Very useful, 209 readings)
Rating:

we love italian food & eat a fair amount of spaghetti, swirls, penne, pasta bakes, lasagnes etc - usually I like to make my own sauces but sometimes due to lack of time or unexpected visitors I have to rely on readymade sauces. I've tried cheaper makes such as tesco's own & iceland's own brands but to be honest we all prefer dolmio sauces I've tried quite a few - eg lasagne white sauce bolognese sauce stir-in cabonare stir-in sun-dried tomato tomato & roasted garlic but our current favourite is the extra spicy bolognese sauce in jars which is delicious not cheap at £1.47 for 500g from ...  Read the complete review
