Advantages: Everything, these are simply delicious!
Disadvantages: NONE!
I absolutely love pickled onions and things like that so I was really happy to stumble upon a jar of these late one night in my mothers kitchen cupboard and I have to admit that I even dream about these! If you like pickled shallots then these are quite simply a must buy its that simple!
They come in a glass see-through jar with a plain silver coloured lid and on the front label which is white in colour we are clearly told what they and who they are by and that they are 'Specially selected ingredients, hand picked for quality' then on the back of the jar other information given includes being told a bit about the product, that they weigh 300g (other sized jars are available by the way), the ingredients are stated and contact details for the manufacturer are given. Its a nice jar this one and informative enough too.
The Shallots:
What you get is lots of shallots, some in halves (depending on the size I guess) and some whole shallots in a very dark and plain looking vinegar and like I have already said I love these and find them so addictive!
All of the shallots I have eaten out of this jar are fresh and crunchy even though the jar had been opened prior to me finding them and over the days it took me to consume them they stayed really fresh tasting and of course a shallot tastes a bit like a superior picked onion!
The vinegar is really tangy and good quality and really well seasoned and so the shallots do taste a little salty which is absolutely great against the tangy vinegar flavour they all have and the vinegar includes spices though I can't depict what those are meant to be to be entirely honest with you but I do think there is a little hotness to these, again which I appreciate.
These are fantastic and the best pickled shallots I have ever tasted and I totally give them the thumbs up!
Available from all good supermarkets and so on, my Mum got the ones I ate from Tescos costing £2.46 and I think I will be needing to replace them asap before she notices!
Summary: Totally yummy, great quality and value for what they are!
