Gordons Organic Mint Sauce
Disadvantages: None at all!
When it comes to mint sauce I simply love the stuff. I love a bit of tender roast lamb from time to time and no lamb is ready to be eaten unless it's dribbled with a bit of mint sauce in my humble opinion!
I came across this mint sauce that I hadn't seen before in a supermarket and bought it simply cos it looked a like little jar of sauce that instilled the thought that it was a quality product on it's appearance really which is what drew me to it!
175g see-through glass jar with a black screw on/off lid to the top of it. Around the jar it has a a black and green label on it and I'm told that it is Gordon's Organic 'Ready To Eat' Mint Sauce. Other information listed on the jar includes being given ideas on how to serve it, size is stated (as I've listed already), ingredients, storage advice and a full nutritional chart is listed, I'm told that it is gluten free and suitable for Vegetarians and contact details for Gordon's Fine Foods are listed. Like I said at the beginning of this review I liked the classy look of the jar of this one and the fact that I noticed that it was organic too and meets soil association standards is an added bonus I reckon!
The Sauce Itself:
Well this is dark green flecks of organic mint in abundance in organic cider vinegar (loads of that!) and organic cane sugar blended with a few other bits and bobs (which are of course all listed on the ingredient list on the jar).
It's very runny, however minty in smell and not at all greasy in texture, just simply sort of watery and that is the cider vinegar of course and that gets a little coloured by the mint within the jar.
Taste wise it's naturally sweet but pleasantly so, very zingy due to the vinegar content of of course and overall this really does taste fresh and natural in flavours. Add over meats, potatoes, blend with plain yogurt this is really lovely and excellent quality! Not too sweet, but tangy and sharp and I will certainly repurchase this in the future time and time again I'm sure!
Available in all good supermarkets costing about £1.25 a jar.
Summary: Perfect ine very way...this is!
