Delish Picked Onions Like You'd Buy In The Chippy

I LOVE Harry Ramsden's chip shops but haven't been to one in ages and I reckon it was that what got me buying these pickled onions when I saw them in Tesco! lol It don't take much to get me buying new stuff! lol

They come in a 440g jar and cost 89p. The label is proper boring and if I hadn't been looking at the pickled onions next to them I wouldn't have noticed they was made by Harry Ramsden's and would have thought they was Tescos own!

The onions are bigger than the silverskin ones I usually buy and the vinegar smells proper tangy when you open the jar. The first thing I noticed is that these onions are mega crunchy, there's no soft bits on any of them that I've eaten so far and that makes them feel and taste majorly fresh. They've got a nice onion flavour as well and I like it that you can actually taste the onion over the vinegar.

I like the vinegar as well. It's dead tangy and as soon as you open the jar you'll start feeling like you've got vinegar in your mouth, it goes proper nice with the onions because it's not too strong tasting. It's spirit vinegar and I love it so much because it isn't sweet so the sour flavour of the vinegar comes through nice. Loads of pickled onions are dead sweet at the minute and it's hard to find PROPER pickled onions that don't taste sugary, these are just like the sour ones from the chippy by me and I reckon Harry Ramsdens must have done that deliberate.

They're yummy but because of the vinegar being sour I can't eat that many because they give me big time indigestion, I like one chopped up small on a cheese butty... yummy!!! That's what I'll have for my dinner today because I know I won't be able to get that out of my head now! lol

One thing: If you shop online then don't type Harry Ramsden's in on Tesco because they're idiots and have spelt it wrong. You've got to put HARRY RAMSON in! And they don't come up if you just put pickled onions in because the word pickled isn't in the name Tesco have give them on the site, it's like they don't want you to find them! pmsl!
