“ Brand: Heinz / Type: Cream „
I am a bit of a fiend for salad cream. I love it. I am not really picky about the brands I buy but, conscious of the amount I eat and my waistline, and seeing as it was on offer in my local Spar, I decided to give this a go.
NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION (per 100 grams)
Energy - kJ 979kJ
(Of which sugars) (10.5g)
(Of which saturates) (1.6g)
Salt Equivalent 1.7g
With 'regular' Heinz Salad cream only clocking up 2.0g of saturated fat per 100 grams (though a whopping 336kcak) it nearly doesn't seem to be worth it, though I guess when watching your weight, every little helps.
CONSISTENCY AND FLAVOUR
I find that this cream is thinner in consistency than the regular salad cream, it has a tendency to run out of sandwiches and drip a little if you dip your crusts in. Not a big deal I know, but I just wanted to highlight the differences between the full and low fat options.
The main issue for me with this product is the flavour. It tastes nice enough, but it tastes more vinegar-y than the full-fat version. I guess they must use more vinegar to thin it out and keep the fat down. It's not that noticeable, but if you eat the stuff in the quantities I do, you tend to notice!
I am indifferent to this product. I don't mind the flavour, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to buy it if it wasn't on offer. I would select a supermarket own-brand and the full fat version over this, especially as there is only 0.4g saturated fat less in it than the full fat version.
