Advantages: Quick and Easy

Disadvantages: Not as good as out the tin

Heinz Squeeze and Stir is an alternative to the Cuppa Soup, which I'm sure everyone is familiar with. I first came across this product about 6 weeks ago while searching around in Tesco for something for lunch. It cost around 60p for a 70 gram sachet of the soup.

The Heinz Squeeze and Stir Soups are available in 4 flavours from what I have seen in the supermarket are Cream of Tomato, Tomato and Basil, Minestrone and Mediterranean. I have personally tried the Cream of Tomato and Tomato and Basil.

Making the soup couldn't be easier, you squeeze the contents of the sachet into a cup and add boiling water, just as you would with the traditional cuppa soup. The difference with the Heinz product is that the soup concentrate, isn't a power but a liquid. It's probably not as thick as Tomato Puree, but slightly thicker than say Tomato Sauce you get in small sachets.

Once you have added around 50ml of boiling water give the water and the liquid a good stir around until the two have mixed together. Once mixed together you are then supposed to fill your cup to the top with boiling water.

I found the flavour of the soup was much closer to what you would get from a tin, but not the same. It was also a less powdery texture than a cuppa soup and the soup was more thick too. One sachet of the soup counts are 1 of your 5 a day. The nutritional values, per 100g are:

Energy (kJ) - 242kJ
Protein - 0.9g
Carbohydrates - 6.8g
Fat - 2.9g
Fibre - 0.4g
Sodium - 0.2g
Salt Equivalent - 0.6g

These soups are quick and easy to make and they taste pretty good too. If you are looking for something new to try for your lunch, I would recommend giving these a go.

Summary: Better than a Cuppa Soup
